Is this a soccer player? A thug?
In Spain's second division, an unprecedented brawl broke out in which goalkeepers exchanged punches. The tension of the relegation battle finally erupted.
The incident occurred late in the match between Real Zaragoza and SD Huesca on the 27th (Korea time). Just before the final whistle, Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada collided with opposing defender Jorge Pulido.
Andrada pushed Pulido to the ground and was booked. But he did not stop there. Already on a booking, he was enraged when a second yellow resulted in a sending-off. He ran at Pulido again and struck him hard in the face with his right hand.
That one blow completely broke the match down. Players and staff from both teams tangled and a large-scale brawl ensued. In the chaos, Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez even struck Andrada on the back of the head.
In the end, both goalkeepers were sent off. In addition, Zaragoza's Dani Tasende was also ordered off.
The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Huesca, but the "violent incident" became a bigger issue than the result. The shock is greater because the incident occurred while both teams were in the relegation zone.
With a single point desperately needed, emotions lost control and the stadium quickly turned into an arena of fighting. Depending on the remaining schedule and disciplinary measures, the incident is expected to have considerable repercussions for both teams' survival battles.
