The Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council has begun establishing a medical support system to strengthen protection of its athletes.
The Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council said, "On the 26th we signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Halla Medical Foundation to establish a system for protecting athletes' health and responding to injuries."
The signing ceremony was held in the meeting room on the 10th floor of Jeju Halla Hospital, and Kang Tae-seon, president of the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council, Kim Seong-su, chairman of Halla Medical Foundation, and officials from both organizations attended and pledged cooperation for athlete protection and mutual development.
This agreement was promoted to strengthen the medical support system for teams training on Jeju and participating in major competitions, and to create an environment where athletes can focus on training and competition without the burden of injuries.
During major competitions such as the National Sports Festival, the two organizations plan to further strengthen the athletes' safety net by promoting ▲establishment of on-site emergency medical systems ▲operation of dedicated medical care processes ▲injury prevention and conditioning education through linkage with Jeju Halla Hospital medical staff. Through this, it is expected they will be able to respond more quickly and systematically to various injuries and emergency situations that may occur during competition.
In addition, injured athletes undergoing training on Jeju will be provided with linked support from specialist medical staff for detailed diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. This is expected to reduce risk factors that can occur during training and help athletes recover quickly and maintain their condition.
Kim Seong-su, chairman of Halla Medical Foundation, said, "This agreement is an important starting point to support athletes so they can perform at their best in a safe environment," and noted, "We will do our best to protect athletes by providing prompt and professional medical services even at large-scale events such as the National Sports Festival."
Kang Tae-seon, president of the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council, also said, "Stable medical support for athletes is a key element in maintaining performance," and emphasized, "Jeju Halla Hospital's high-level medical system will be a great support to the teams visiting Jeju." He added, "We will continue to create a supportive environment so athletes can devote themselves to training and competitions without the burden of injuries."
The two organizations plan to expand cooperation in various fields, including exchange of medical information for injury prevention and performance enhancement and joint promotion. They also intend to closely cooperate to make the 107th National Sports Festival, to be held in Jeju in October, a safe and successful event.
