Hyung-gyu Oh (24, Beşiktaş JK) was insanely popular locally in Türkiye.
Beşiktaş beat Antalyaspor 4-2 in a 2025-2026 Süper Lig round 29 home match at Türkiye's Istanbul Tüpraş Stadium on the 11th (Korean time), led by Oh Hyung-gyu's multi-goal performance.
Starting as the center forward, Oh Hyung-gyu scored two goals to secure the team's victory. These were his sixth and seventh league goals since joining Beşiktaş in the winter transfer.
After the match, Oh Hyung-gyu said, "This week was a difficult time for us. But today we showed good play and I am very happy to have won. I always try to help the team. When I score, our team wins. I try to score in every match possible," showing confidence befitting a forward.
He was not satisfied with the multi-goal performance. Oh Hyung-gyu said, "I scored two goals today, but actually I should have scored three or four," expressing regret. It is a typical striker's mindset to remember missed chances more than goals scored.
He did not forget to thank the home fans. At the stadium that day, Beşiktaş fans chanted Oh Hyung-gyu's name and gave passionate support.
Oh Hyung-gyu said, "Every match at home feels like a final. Playing in front of fans with a fantastic atmosphere is a great motivator," and expressed gratitude to the fans.
At Oh Hyung-gyu's fan signing event held last Feb., more than 10,000 fans crowded in at once. Oh Hyung-gyu jerseys sold out quickly, with 10,000 shirts gone in an instant. A phenomenon occurred where people lined up for three to four hours to buy Oh Hyung-gyu jerseys.
Oh Hyung-gyu said, "I am really grateful to the fans who came that day. I didn't expect so many fans to come. If I hold another signing event, I could sit and sign for 10 hours," and showed boundless affection for the fans.
