Suwon KT Wiz Park underwent a major remodeling for the 2026 season and has been reborn as a "smart stadium." The plan aims to improve fan convenience, player safety and cutting-edge technology.
The most noticeable change is the improvement of the viewing environment. The entire aging exterior of the stadium was repainted, and the seating was completely replaced. In addition, table seats and cheering sections were expanded to create a more comfortable viewing environment.
In cooperation with Suwon city, an internal wayfinding (visually expressed at spectator eye level so fans visiting the stadium can easily find their seats, facilities and exits) system was established, making changes that consider both fan safety and convenience.
The ground environment was also improved. The aging artificial turf was completely replaced and a new safety fence was installed to reduce players' risk of injury. It is expected to have a positive effect on performance as well.
KT also moved to build an AI-based smart stadium through this remodeling. A Generative AI design platform will be introduced to present various video·content. Particularly eye-catching is the "AI cheer pool."
Fans can enter cheering phrases at kiosks, which are then printed on the spot and broadcast on the scoreboard, creating a new cheering culture.
Changes to enhance the fan experience also followed. An RFID self-checkout system was introduced in the team store to improve user convenience. A 30m LED panorama media wall was installed in the F&B zone, and overall remodeling of floors and lighting was completed.
In addition to Suwon city local brands, popular eateries have moved in, expanding food choices. A space for family spectators was also created. An existing outfield convenience store was remodeled into a kids' cafe to increase satisfaction for spectators accompanied by children.
It is evolving into a "complex cultural space," not just a simple stadium. Suwon KT Wiz Park has been reborn as a smart stadium that combines viewing·experience·convenience for the 2026 season. It remains to be seen whether it can become a new attraction that draws fans.
