The most regrettable moment came in the 41st minute of the second half. Kim Tae-hyun's cross from the left was redirected with his foot and struck the crossbar, and Kim Young-bin's header that followed shook the net. Having recorded the most shots of either team that day (four), Lee Seung-woo calmly said in the mixed zone after the match, "I haven't seen that play yet. They checked it on VAR, so it must have been offside."
He added honestly, "It was the home opener and a match we had to win against anyone. That's why I tried to be more aggressive. It's disappointing and I am very let down that the result turned out this way."
Asked about the assessment that his movement in the central second line was impressive, he replied, "That position is comfortable and I ran a lot on both flanks last year. Ultimately what matters is taking the field. Position doesn't matter much."
Asked whether his movements looked light, he did not hide his ambition. "It's a season of restarting and it was a day we had to produce a result in front of many fans at home. I also wanted to run quickly and show more when I came on. I will work harder for the team and the fans," he said.
Although the goal was disallowed, Jeonbuk's attack clearly picked up speed after Lee Seung-woo's introduction. Even amid regret, the performance left a clear signal. The season is just beginning. Lee Seung-woo is also looking ahead to the next match.
