Unbelievable. The Lotte Giants, conducting their second spring camp in Miyazaki, Japan, have suffered an injury.
A Lotte Giants official at the professional baseball spring camp site in Miyazaki, Japan, said on the 2nd, "Pitcher Park Jin is experiencing discomfort in his right elbow and will return to Busan on the 3rd for examination."
Park Jin is a right-handed pitcher who graduated from Busan High School and was selected by Lotte in the 2nd draft, 4th round, 38th overall in 2019. After years of perseverance, he appeared in 38 games in 2024 with a 2-4 record, 1 save and a 4.38 earned run average; last year he appeared in 51 games with a 3-3 record, 1 save, 3 holds and a 5.32 earned run average, and in this spring camp he entered the competition for the fifth starter role alongside Kim Jin-wook and Kyoyama Masaya, but an unexpected injury forced him to withdraw from the lineup midstream.
Lotte, whose practice game against the SSG Landers on the 2nd was rained out, will play SSG on the 3rd and finish all spring camp schedules and return home on the 5th. A Lotte official explained the background, saying, "With only two days left in the training schedule, it was decided that Park Jin would return without participating in the remaining games and training."
