'Korean Zombie' Jung Chan-seong(39) arrived in LA.
Jung Chan-seong personally traveled to the United States to cheer for 'Sonny' Son Heung-min(34, LAFC). Though they compete in different sports, the meeting of two Korean superstar representatives was enough to excite local Korean-American fans.
LAFC on the 25th (Korean time) beat Real España 1-0 in the second leg of the first round of the 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, USA. They advanced to the second round with a 7-1 aggregate score.
Another protagonist of the match that day was Jung Chan-seong. He appeared in the stands wearing an LAFC jersey with 'Zombie' engraved on the back. LAFC's social media announced Jung Chan-seong's visit and released footage of his cheering. Korean fans at the stadium recognized the 'Korean Zombie' at once, and photo and autograph requests followed. Jung Chan-seong mingled with fans in his characteristic friendly manner and showed his support for Son Heung-min.
After the match, he met Son Heung-min in person and took a commemorative photo. The meeting of two symbolic figures representing fighting sports and soccer became a topic in itself. LAFC also sent a message saying, "We thank the Korean Zombie who flew from Korea to cheer for LAFC."
Son Heung-min started that day but was substituted after playing only the first 45 minutes. The club said it was a management decision to raise his match fitness.
