Season-opening official match saw LAFC's attack explode. At the center of it was Son Heung-min. Concerns about the preseason gap vanished completely in less than 30 minutes into the first half.
Los Angeles Football Club on the 18th (Korea time) at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, in the 2026 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Champions Cup first round first-leg away match crushed Real España 6-1. LAFC, which scored five goals in the first half in an away match, has effectively secured advancement to the round of 16. The symbol of the day's victory was Son Heung-min. In the season's first official match, Son Heung-min recorded one goal and three assists and directed the attack.
