Sean Dyche (55) was disgracefully dismissed 114 days after taking charge of Nottingham Forest.
Sky Sports and other local British media reported on the 12th (Korean time) that Nottingham Forest abruptly fired manager Sean Dyche. The decision came just three hours after the 0-0 home draw with Wolverhampton.
Dyche's dismissal was ultimately sparked by Nottingham's "ineffective firepower," as they failed to score despite unleashing a record barrage of attacks against bottom-ranked Wolverhampton.
Nottingham fired an astonishing 35 shots throughout the match. But they failed to break Wolverhampton's goal. It was the first time in about 10 years that a team had taken 35 or more shots without scoring in the Premier League since Manchester United (38) in 2016.
Nottingham's opponent had been the league's bottom team, Wolverhampton, which had not kept an away clean sheet before this match. Wolverhampton managed just seven shots and was overwhelmingly outplayed by Nottingham.
Dyche said at the postmatch news conference, "The owner (Evangelos Marinakis) was sufficiently fair to me. If change is desired, that is the owner's decision," showing a composed attitude.
But owner Marinakis lost further confidence in Dyche after he squandered the chance to collect three points and extend the gap from the relegation zone to five points.
The poor form of key players also hurt. Lorenzo Luca (26), a high-profile signing, was replaced after 71 minutes in his starting debut having recorded only 11 touches.
Ace Morgan Gibbs-White (26) also missed a decisive opportunity and could not avoid the fans' jeers. By contrast, Wolverhampton goalkeeper Jose Sa (33) produced a miraculous string of saves that ended Dyche's last hope.
With this draw, Nottingham remained in a precarious position, three points above the relegation zone. To make matters worse, they face a "schedule of death" with upcoming matches against Liverpool, BRIGHTEN and Manchester City, making appointing the next manager an urgent task. This is already the third managerial dismissal this season since owner Marinakis took over.
Dyche's dismissal plunged Nottingham back into uncertainty. The penalty for sending 35 shots into the void returned as the dagger of a managerial sacking.
