Incheon United (chief executive officer Jo Geon-do) has strengthened its squad by signing veteran Lee Chung-yong, who represents Korean soccer.
Incheon United officially announced the signing of Lee Chung-yong through the club's official channels on the 11th.
Lee Chung-yong is an iconic player of Korean soccer who has accumulated extensive experience on domestic and international stages. He made his professional debut in 2004 with FC Seoul and showed rapid development by appearing in 52 matches through 2009, after which he moved to the European stage and played for Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. He appeared in a total of 105 Premier League matches, proving his competitive edge with excellent game management and diligent play.
Lee Chung-yong returned to the K League in 2020 through Ulsan and served as a central figure for the team over six seasons through 2025, appearing in 161 matches. With wide vision, accurate passing and seasoned game management, he played a key role in the team's attacking development and demonstrated leadership on and off the field. Lee Chung-yong has appeared in 213 K League matches, scoring 26 goals and providing 23 assists. His extensive international experience, stable game management and leadership in guiding younger players are expected to be a great asset to Incheon United's lineup.
An Incheon club official said, "Lee Chung-yong is a veteran who has been tested for a long time on domestic and international stages, and he will add stability and leadership to the team as well as his playing ability," and noted, "We expect him to play a major role in the growth of young players and in improving the team's competitiveness."
Lee Chung-yong said, "I am excited to start a new challenge at Incheon United," and added, "I will pour all my experience and abilities onto the field so the team can move toward higher goals. I will repay the fans with a good performance."
