The Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council held a successful memorandum of understanding signing ceremony with Eastar Jet Co. on the 9th in the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council conference room to support the smooth air transportation of the Seoul delegation participating in the 107th National Sports Festival, and Lee Kyung-min, head of commercial operations at Eastar Jet Co., attended the ceremony.
This agreement aims to support the transportation of the Seoul delegation for the 107th National Sports Festival to be held in Jeju in October, and the Seoul delegation is expected to be about 2,100 people.
In particular, Eastar Jet Co., the partner in this agreement, was recognized for its service quality at the Skytrax "World Airline Awards 2025," a globally reputable airline evaluation body, and was selected as the No. 1 in the "Best Low-Cost Airline in Korea" category. Eastar Jet Co. plans to provide the Seoul delegation with safer and more convenient air services based on this proven service capability.
Under the agreement, Eastar Jet Co. will provide convenience for using flights on the Seoul–Jeju route according to the competition schedule, and will simplify procedures by centralizing group travel tasks such as reservation, ticketing and changes through a dedicated contact person. Also, if the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council shares the participants' schedules and travel demand by team in advance, Eastar Jet Co. will secure group seats in advance and prioritize allocation based on that information.
In addition, Eastar Jet Co. will establish and apply additional baggage provision standards that take into account the transport needs of team equipment and personal items, and will prevent on-site delays by providing advance guidance on handling notices, packing standards and check-in procedures for special baggage such as sports equipment. It also plans to increase handling stability through prior consultation and on-site cooperation systems for situations where excess baggage may occur.
Kang Tae-seon, president of the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council, said, "An environment in which the delegation can move safely and on time is a crucial foundation that supports performance at the games," and added, "We are deeply grateful to Eastar Jet Co. for actively cooperating in this agreement, and we will strengthen support to reduce the inconvenience and administrative burden of group movement so that the delegation can fully focus on competition."
