Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (Director General Lee Dohyun, hereafter Jeonbuk Hyundai) opens the new season with the 2026 season's first official competition, the 'Coupang Play K League Super Cup 2026' (hereafter Super Cup).
Jeonbuk Hyundai will challenge for the Super Cup title against Daejeon Hana Citizen (hereafter Daejeon) at 2 p.m. on the 21st at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
Jeonbuk Hyundai is determined to pursue the season's first trophy at the Super Cup, the starting point of the 2026 season, leveraging the cheering energy of 'Jeonju Castle' together with home fans.
The 'K League Super Cup' is a competition in which the previous season's K League 1 champion and the Korea Cup champion face each other. It was held seven times from its inaugural event in 1999 until 2006, and it was confirmed to resume after 20 years as the 'Coupang Play K League Super Cup 2026'.
However, because both the previous year's K League 1 champion and the Korea Cup champion are Jeonbuk Hyundai this time, the K League 1 runner-up Daejeon earned the right to participate. The Super Cup match format is a single 90-minute match, and if there is no winner in regulation time, the champion is decided by a penalty shootout without extra time.
Regarding the nature of tournament operations, the 'N section (north side)' will be operated as the home-only cheering section, and the 'S section (south side)' will be operated as Daejeon's cheering section, while the W section (west side) and E section (east side) will be operated as 'neutral cheering areas.'
Under the neutral area operation policy, fans in this area may wear other clubs' uniforms or MD (merchandise).
Tickets for this Super Cup match can be reserved only through the Coupang Play app from Feb. 6, with no on-site sales, and cannot be reserved through the Jeonbuk Hyundai official website or app.
Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Hyundai won the Super Cup staged in 2004 by defeating Seongnam FC (then Seongnam Ilhwa), which they contested with the previous year's Korea Cup (then FA Cup) championship qualification.
