Minnesota United midfielder Jung Ho-yeon has been loaned to K League 2 side Suwon Samsung, coached by Lee Jeong-hyo.
Suwon announced on the 24th that it had acquired Jung Ho-yeon on loan.
Born in 2000, Jung Ho-yeon is a midfielder who came from Kumho High School, the youth team of K League 1 side Gwangju FC, attended Dankook University, and made his professional debut in the 2022 season wearing Gwangju's uniform.
In his debut season, when Gwangju was a K League 2 team, he stood out by appearing in 36 league matches and continued as a key player in the 2023 season after promotion to the first division, winning the league's young player award.
He played in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, contributed to Korea's gold medal and received military service benefits, and was evaluated as a player who played a central role in the football of coach Lee Jeong-hyo, who led Gwangju and established himself as one of K League's representative managers.
Combining divisions 1 and 2, his K League career totals are 106 matches, 3 goals and 13 assists.
Jung Ho-yeon, who debuted for the senior national team in 2024, moved to the U.S. stage last year by signing with Minnesota in February through 2028 including an extension option, but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his knee in July and underwent surgery, preventing him from playing for the remainder of the season.
Reuniting with coach Lee Jeong-hyo and dreaming of a comeback, Jung Ho-yeon said, "I consider it a great honor to become a member of the prestigious Suwon club. I sincerely thank the club and the fans for welcoming me warmly, and I want to grow with the team and achieve good results."
