Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson (24) appears likely to move to Crystal Palace in the upcoming winter transfer window.
British outlet TeamTalk reported on the 21st (Korea time) that Crystal Palace is becoming increasingly optimistic about signing Brennan Johnson from Tottenham. Personal terms are not expected to be a major obstacle. According to club insiders, negotiations have progressed significantly.
Johnson was signed by Tottenham Hotspur from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023 for £47.5 million (about 94 billion won). He is a versatile player who can operate on the flank and centrally.
Johnson's performance at Tottenham last season was outstanding. He scored 18 goals in official competitions, finishing as the club's top scorer. In particular, he scored the winning goal against Manchester United in the Europa League final, earning him the nickname "lucky charm" among fans. But the situation has changed 180 degrees in the 2025-2026 season. Under new manager Thomas Frank, his playing time has significantly decreased. He has started only six Premier League matches (2 goals).
TeamTalk said Tottenham is pursuing a revamp of its attack and is willing to allow Johnson to leave either permanently or on loan. It added that the transfer fee could be in the region of £30 million (about 59.4 billion won) to £40 million (about 79.2 billion won), depending on the contract structure.
Crystal Palace, led by manager Oliver Glasner, are competing for European qualification this season while also participating in the Conference League. The club identified Johnson as a target, believing they need attackers with speed and tactical flexibility.
Johnson, who wants to secure consistent playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup, is reportedly positive about a move.
Johnson's Wales are aiming to reach the finals through the playoffs.
The figure who set the transfer rumour alight is Chris Armstrong, who previously played for both Crystal Palace and Tottenham. He posted on social media that Johnson's move to Crystal Palace is already a done transaction, saying it would be a good signing for the club and that the player will certainly do well, and the transfer story spread widely.
Crystal Palace appear keen to complete Johnson's signing quickly at the start of the January transfer window. Club insiders said they hope Johnson will adapt quickly to the team through an early arrival.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace had also shown interest in signing Oscar Bobb of Manchester City, but that transaction has effectively fallen through. TeamTalk reporter Dean Jones said Bobb recently suffered an injury in the Carabao Cup, which has increased the likelihood of Johnson's signing.
