The 2025 baseball news photo awards ceremony, jointly held by the Korea Sports Photojournalists Association and KBO (Korea Baseball Organization (KBO)), took place on the 17th at the OSEN headquarters in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The "baseball news photo of the year," whose final winner was selected by votes of Korea Sports Photojournalists Association members, was a photograph of Hanwha's Cody Ponce, the first foreign pitcher in the 2025 KBO League to achieve the four titles (wins, earned run average, strikeouts, winning percentage), capturing him leaving the field with the mound dirt of Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark as LG players celebrated the overall championship in the background immediately after the team's Game 5 loss in the Korean Series.
The Korea Sports Photojournalists Association was formed in 1990 as the sports division of the Korea Photojournalists Association, which was founded in 1964, and has been active at sports events for 35 years this year.
Every year it delivers vivid sports news from events such as the Olympics, the World Cup, the World Baseball Classic, the Asian Games, the National Sports Festival, the KBO League, professional soccer, professional basketball, and professional volleyball, and records historic moments through the eyes of photojournalists.
