"I don't care how the goals go in."
Bayern Munich defeated Sporting 3-1 on Oct. 10 (Korea time) at the Fußball-Arena München in Munich, Germany, in the sixth matchday of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League league phase. After the defeat to Arsenal, Bayern rebounded and rose to second place with 15 points (5 wins, 1 loss).
The 13 shots attempted throughout the first half were all blocked by goalkeeper Rui Silva, and in the ninth minute of the second half Joshua Kimmich's own goal made it seem Bayern was shaken. But the turnaround was instantaneous. In the 20th minute of the second half Serge Gnabry scored the equalizer, and four minutes later 17-year-old Lennart Kall completed the go-ahead goal. In the 32nd minute of the second half Jonathan Tah added the insurance goal.
By scoring three goals in 12 minutes to overturn the match, Bayern then maintained stable game management. Sporting's counterattack failed to find strength, and the match ended with Bayern's 3-1 victory.
After the match, the UEFA Champions League posted an interview with Bayern coach Vincent Kompany on its official website. Kompany said, "We knew how dangerous Sporting is, so we approached the game with a lot of respect. Sporting played a really good game. Our first half wasn't bad, and the rhythm was okay, but we didn't score."
He said, "Sporting had a much better start to the second half. For the first 10 minutes we didn't control the game."
He added, "After that, our pressing improved, and I felt the quality of our play became more complete. Then we took advantage of the moments we created and scored."
Kompany said, "In the Champions League, a few moments ultimately decide matches," adding, "I don't care much about how the goals came. What matters is remaining a constantly threatening team, and today we achieved that. Tonight is another step toward advancing to the next round. It's about moving forward one step at a time."
