Ruben Amorim, Manchester United (Man Utd) manager (40), won the Premier League manager of the month award for October. It is his first award since taking charge at Man Utd.
The Premier League office on the 7th (Korea time) said, "Ruben Amorim has been named manager of the month for October," explaining the selection background by saying, "he led the team to three consecutive victories for the first time since his appointment."
Amorim took the helm at Man Utd in November 2024. Early in his tenure, poor form and frequent mistakes led to calls for his dismissal, but he has recently engineered a turnaround.
Man Utd won all three league matches last month. They beat Sunderland, who had been on an upswing in early October, 2-0. Then, in a rivalry match at Anfield held for the first time in 10 years, they defeated Liverpool 2-1. In the final match against Brighton they won 4-2 at home. At one point they entered the top four. As of the 8th they are eighth.
In his acceptance remarks, Amorim said, "This trophy is not mine. It belongs to the players. They did really well. Our goal is to win the next award. That means we keep winning matches."
He became the sixth Portuguese manager to win the Premier League manager of the month award, following Nuno Espírito Santo (seven times), José Mourinho (four times), André Villas-Boas (twice), Bruno Lage and Vítor Pereira.
Man Utd enjoyed a double celebration in the individual awards this month. Brian Embewuomo won player of the month. Man Utd won two monthly awards simultaneously for the first time since November 2023. At that time, Harry Maguire, Erik ten Hag and Alejandro Garnacho won player, manager and goal awards respectively.
In this vote Amorim competed against Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Unai Emery (Aston Villa), Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth) and others, and was chosen as the final winner after combining fan votes and expert evaluations.<
