Hwang In-beom (29, Feyenoord) is on the verge of entering the big league. AS Roma, preparing for next season, has reportedly included him in their list of transfer candidates.
The Dutch Football Headliner reported on the 14th (Korean time) that "Hwang In-beom is the type of player who can adapt well to Roma," and that "if Francesco Farioli takes the helm at Roma, Hwang In-beom will be the first reinforcement candidate he considers."
Farioli is a strong candidate to become the next manager of Roma. The Italian native proved his leadership by leading Ajax to the top of the league after taking over last year. Ajax finished fifth in the previous season but is currently first with a record of 23 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses this season.
Roma, which is looking to appoint a new coach, is showing interest in Farioli. The club has changed managers twice this season alone. Manager Daniele De Rossi was dismissed early in the season, and Ivan Jurić also left after less than two months. Currently, Claudio Ranieri is temporarily leading the team but is expected to resign at the end of this season.
There are analyses suggesting that Roma's situation aligns well with Hwang In-beom's playing style.
The Football Headliner evaluated, "If Farioli takes over the new team, he will need players to orchestrate the midfield. Hwang In-beom can be a suitable option for that position."
It was also added that "if Hwang In-beom transfers to Roma, his playing time may not be consistent, but the potential departure of some players within the team is being mentioned. This opens up opportunities for new reinforcement players."
Dutch Football Transfers also reported this news, stating, "If Farioli moves to Roma, the possibility of Hwang In-beom becoming a key reinforcement player is high. 'Sci Sports' analyzed the tactical fit between Hwang In-beom and Roma at 78 points."
It was further stated that "Hwang In-beom has sufficient potential for growth at Roma, and his style of play fits well with the Italian stage. Furthermore, if Lorenzo Pellegrini transfers to his former team Boca Juniors, Hwang In-beom's playing time could naturally increase."
Hwang In-beom transferred to Feyenoord last summer. He contributed to his team's league championship while thriving at the Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade, and after the season ended, he successfully made a transfer to the Netherlands for a step up.
His adaptation to the Netherlands was quick. Gaining the trust of manager Brian Priske, he immediately secured a starting position and took on a key role with his passing ability and work rate in midfield. He was also selected as the club's player of the month in September.
He was sidelined for a while due to injury but has since returned and is steadily participating under the management of Robin van Persie. This season, he has recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in 26 league appearances, and his club Feyenoord is currently ranked third in the league.
If Hwang In-beom dons the Roma jersey, it will mark his third consecutive season changing teams, further elevating his career. At the same time, entering Serie A will establish another milestone for him in joining the top five leagues in Europe. He could also become the fourth South Korean player to play in Serie A, following Ahn Jung-hwan (Perugia), Lee Seung-woo (Hellas Verona), and Kim Min-jae (Napoli).
