Shohei Ohtani (31) of the Los Angeles Dodgers has gone silent with no hits, and his slump is becoming more prolonged.

The Dodgers lost 2-4 to the Chicago Cubs on the 14th (Korea time) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, marking their second consecutive defeat.

Unable to continue the momentum from the early part of the season, the Dodgers' starting lineup included Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter), Mookie Betts (shortstop), Tommy Edman (center fielder), Teoscar Hernández (right fielder), Michael Conforto (left fielder), Will Smith (catcher), Max Muncy (third baseman), Enrique Hernández (first baseman), and Miguel Rojas (second baseman).

Ohtani recorded no hits in five at-bats. His season stats have dropped to a batting average of .273 in 17 games (66 at-bats, 18 hits), with 4 home runs, 5 RBIs, 15 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases, with an OPS of .877. Although Conforto and Smith had multi-hit games, they could not prevent the team's loss.

Starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow achieved a quality start by allowing 3 hits (2 home runs), 1 walk, 1 hit batter, and striking out 7 over 6 innings, recording 2 earned runs but received no run support from the lineup. The bullpen, consisting of Blake Treinen (1 inning, 1 earned run), Alex Vesia (1 inning, 1 earned run), and Jack Dryer (1 inning, no earned runs), allowed runs and resulted in the team's defeat.

The Cubs' starting lineup included Iaan Happ (left fielder), Kyle Tucker (right fielder), Justin Turner (designated hitter), Michael Busch (first baseman), Dansby Swanson (shortstop), Nico Hoerner (second baseman), Pete Crow-Armstrong (center fielder), Carson Kelly (catcher), and Matt Shaw (third baseman). Crow-Armstrong hit his first and second home runs of the season, leading the team to victory. Busch also hit his third home run of the season.

Starting pitcher Colin Rhea recorded 3⅔ innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, and 1 earned run. The bullpen, consisting of Brad Keller (1⅓ innings, no earned runs), Caleb Thilbault (⅓ inning, 1 earned run), Ethan Roberts (⅔ inning, no earned runs), Julian Merryweather (1 inning, no earned runs), Porter Hodge (1 inning, no earned runs), and Ryan Pressly (1 inning, no earned runs), secured the team's victory.

Ohtani batted as the lead-off in the bottom of the first inning but was struck out looking on Rhea's 6th pitch at 95.3 mph (153.4 km/h) four-seamer. In the second inning, with one out, Conforto and Smith hit consecutive singles to create a 1 out, 1st and 3rd opportunity. Muncy struck out swinging, but Enrique Hernández drove in a run with a timely hit, scoring the first point.

The Cubs saw Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a game-tying solo home run as the lead-off in the third inning, returning the score to even. Kelly reached second on a walk and a wild pitch, but Ohtani struck out, and Happ and Tucker were also retired on outs.

Ohtani batted as the lead-off in the bottom of the third inning and connected with Rhea's 4th pitch at 93.7 mph (150.8 km/h) four-seamer, but was caught out on a fly ball to left field. In the fifth inning with one out, he aimed for Keller's first pitch at 98.8 mph (159.0 km/h) four-seamer, but was retired on a ground ball to the second baseman.

The Cubs took the lead in the sixth inning when Busch hit a go-ahead solo home run with two outs. In the bottom of the sixth, the Dodgers quickly created a no outs 2nd and 3rd opportunity with Conforto's single and Smith's double, and Muncy tied the game at 2-2 with a sacrifice fly that drove in one run. The Cubs regained the lead at 3-2 in the seventh inning when Crow-Armstrong hit his second home run of the game with one out.

The Cubs, having successfully taken the lead, saw Tucker hit a double as the lead-off in the eighth inning and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd due to Turner's walk, Busch and Swanson were retired on a strikeout and a flyout, but Hoerner drove in a run with a timely hit, extending the lead to 4-2. Ohtani came to bat in the bottom of the ninth with two outs for his final at-bat but hit a ground ball to the first baseman, ending the game.
