"I even brought my outfield glove."

Kia Tigers foreign hitter Patrick Wisdom (31) hit two home runs and expressed confidence that he could also play as an outfielder. He readily accepted manager Lee Beom-ho's plan to utilize him as an outfielder.

Wisdom hit two home runs in a single game for the first time since joining the team during the 2025 professional baseball game against the SSG Landers at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on the 13th. He sparked the team to an 11-5 victory with a two-run home run and a go-ahead solo home run. He went 3 for 4 with three runs batted in and three runs scored in five plate appearances.

Batting fifth as the first baseman, he set the field ablaze from his first at-bat in the second inning. When Choi Hyung-woo got on base with a hit to center, he pulled SSG starter Moon Seung-won’s slider and launched it over the left field wall for a massive home run of 125 meters. He hit home runs in four consecutive games until April 2 against Samsung, but went silent afterward. He reactivated his power after 11 days.

In his third at-bat in the sixth inning, he got on base with a single to left, providing the spark for a four-run big inning. Then, in the seventh inning, after one out, he crushed Song Young-jin's fastball for a 130-meter two-run home run. It was the blow that decided the game. With his sixth and seventh home runs, he rose to the top of the leaderboard. He recorded three hits, bringing his total to 13 runs batted in.

After the game, Wisdom said, "I’m glad to hit home runs like this. I was not frustrated that no home runs were coming out. I thought my timing was off while continuing to play. I adjusted that, and the results were good. A new bat with a thicker grip came, and I used it for the first time today, and it worked well. I wanted to keep my timing quick, so I switched to that bat, which helped me catch that pathway."

Particularly, after hitting home runs in four consecutive games, he became a player of concern, and opponents have been throwing difficult pitches primarily outside. "After I hit home runs in four consecutive games, I felt the opponents changed their pitch selection. They kept throwing outside. I focused more on what I needed to do rather than what they were doing. I created my own zone and tried to swing according to that," he laughed.

Additionally, he expressed his willingness to play as an outfielder. Before the game, manager Lee Beom-ho mentioned, "Wisdom has said he can play in the outfield. When Do-young returns, I will discuss it again. We need to find a way to maximize our offensive power." The plan was to use Byun Woo-hyuk, who has good hitting condition, at first base while moving Wisdom to the outfield.

Wisdom noted, "Today was the first time I heard about the outfield position. I can play all three outfield positions and I’m fully prepared. I brought my gloves for first base, third base, and the outfield," he readily accepted. He has also played 42 games as an outfielder in Major League Baseball, with 24 games in left field, 16 games in right field, and two games in center field. It seems like a lucky foreign player who is hitting home runs at first and third bases and in the outfield has joined the team.
