Mohamed Salah (33) is finally completing a 10-year association with Liverpool. Reports indicate that he is on the verge of signing a 2-year contract extension with Liverpool.

The British 'BBC' reported on the 10th (Korea time) that "Liverpool is getting closer to signing a new contract with Salah. Negotiations are underway among all parties." They noted, "Both sides have not yet reached a final agreement. However, sources indicate that Liverpool has made positive progress and hopes to finalize the transaction soon."

The media explained that "Salah's future was uncertain. His contract expires at the end of the season, and Saudi Arabian clubs were eager to sign him. However, due to recent progress, Liverpool has developed hope that Salah will extend his time with the club."

Not only the BBC but also authoritative outlets like 'The Athletic' and British 'Sky Sports' reported the same news. The Athletic mentioned a specific duration of a 2-year contract and indicated that both Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk are close to re-signing with Liverpool.

The media stated that "Salah and Van Dijk are approaching a new 2-year re-signing. Both players were in the last few months of their existing contracts, but a breakthrough in negotiations has been reached. They are expected to sign contracts until June 2027."

Sky Sports also emphasized that "Salah and Van Dijk have clearly stated that remaining at Anfield (Liverpool's home ground) is their top priority. It seems they have finally found a breakthrough after long negotiations." They added, "Despite both players' contracts expiring this summer, Liverpool has always been confident that they would remain committed to the club."

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Medi remarked, "This is the news that all Liverpool fans have been hoping for. Salah is set to finalize a new contract after prolonged negotiations. It is expected to be a 2-year deal, similar to what Van Dijk said regarding recent progress in re-signing." She noted, "Since last month, Liverpool has been very confident that both would extend their contracts. Finding a compromise was important, and we finally succeeded."

Richard Morgan of the same outlet indicated that "the lengthy transfer speculation seems to be coming to an end. This is the story that all Liverpool fans wanted to hear." He remarked, "Salah's glorious career at Liverpool appears to be reaching its peak. There seemed to be no breakthrough in negotiations. However, after months of prolonged talks, it seems that Salah's 8-year association with Liverpool will continue."

Fabrizio Romano, well-known for his phrase 'Here we go,' also chimed in, saying, "Salah is close to signing a new contract with Liverpool. The current contract is in its final stages. The club is confident that it will finalize it soon," adding, "It appears that Salah and Liverpool will continue to be together."

Salah is a world-class forward representing not just Liverpool but the Premier League as well. He joined Liverpool in 2017 after catching the eye of manager Jürgen Klopp during a rebuilding phase. Salah gained attention while wearing AS Roma's jersey in Italy, scoring 34 goals and providing 20 assists over two seasons.

Manager Klopp's judgment was spot on. As soon as Salah joined Liverpool, he skyrocketed to become the best player, evolving into a complete forward with explosive dribbling, sturdy physicality, scoring ability, and playmaking skills.

Salah's overall record at Liverpool stands at 392 matches, 243 goals, and 110 assists. He has won the Premier League golden boot three times. He first claimed the golden boot in the 2017-2018 season with 32 goals, and he shared the top scorer title in the 2018-2019 season with 22 goals. Additionally, in the 2021-2022 season, Salah scored 23 goals, tying for the top scorer title with Son Heung-min.

Notably, Salah is having a second prime season this year, with 45 official matches yielding 32 goals and 22 assists. His league statistics alone show 31 matches, 27 goals, and 17 assists. If he adds just 4 more attacking points, he will surpass the all-time Premier League record for most attacking points in a season (47), set by Andy Cole in the 1993-1994 season and Alan Shearer in the 1994-1995 season.

Thanks to his performance, Liverpool is dominating the Premier League standings as they head toward the championship. With only 7 matches remaining, they hold an 11-point lead over second-place Arsenal. Liverpool is on the verge of reclaiming its throne since manager Arne Slot's arrival.

However, concerns among Liverpool fans have not ceased. The reason is the potential for multiple key players to leave at the same time. The departure of 'homegrown talent' Trent Alexander-Arnold is already confirmed. He is set to join Real Madrid as a free agent when his contract expires this season.

Additionally, Salah himself has revealed that he is facing difficulties in re-signing. After finishing a match against Manchester United last September, he stated, "This could be my last match. No one at the club has spoken to me about a contract. So I thought, 'Yeah. I'm playing my last season.' I'll see what happens at the end of the season." This statement raised concerns among fans.

Since then, Salah's bombshell comments have continued. He revealed in late November last year, "I have not received any offer to stay at the club at all. I think it's more likely that I will transfer rather than stay here." Earlier this year, he expressed, "Re-signing is far off. There has been no progress at all. We must wait and see."

However, the atmosphere changed dramatically. French outlet 'Foot Mercato' reported, "Salah is on the brink of extending his contract! He continues to leave questions about his future with Liverpool. However, he is sure to return," predicting that Salah will sign a 2-year contract, completing a decade with Liverpool. He was even spotted seemingly taking an official photo.

It seems now that only the official announcement is left. Liverpool fans will be able to finish this season with not only the Premier League championship but also the big gift of re-signing Salah and Van Dijk.
