Former coach Lim Geun-bae has been appointed as the Director General of the Samsung basketball team.
The Samsung basketball team announced on the 10th that it has appointed Lim Geun-bae, the former coach of Samsung Life Insurance Bloomings, as the new Director General.
Lim Geun-bae, the new Director General who served as the coach of Samsung Life Insurance Bloomings from 2015 to 2024, led the team to the championship finals three times and secured the championship during the 2020-2021 season. He began his career as a player with Hyundai Electronics in 1989 and retired in 1998. From the following year, 1999, until 2013, he worked as a coach with teams such as Electron Land and Hyundai Mobis.
The Samsung basketball team decided that Lim Geun-bae, as Director General, was the right person to lead the team due to his extensive experience as a player and coach in both men's and women's basketball teams.
Director General Lim Geun-bae noted, "Since I am taking on this role during a difficult time, I will work hard to restore the glory of the well-established Samsung by creating a good atmosphere."
Meanwhile, Director General Lim Geun-bae will begin his official duties starting with a visit to the Samsung basketball team on May 1 for an introductory meeting with staff.
