The transfer rumor of Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham Hotspur) to Bayern Munich has been revealed to be unfounded.

The British 'Sports Witness' reported on the 5th (Korea time) that 'Bayern is not interested in Son Heung-min. The transfer rumor is not true. (Prominent) journalist Christian Falk denied this.'

Recently, in Germany, Son Heung-min was mentioned as a potential replacement for Thomas Müller, and the possibility of his transfer arose. With Müller expected to leave the team after this season, a reorganization of Bayern's attacking line is anticipated. As the futures of Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry have also become uncertain, there was a growing atmosphere of consolidation connecting Son Heung-min and Bayern. The German media 'TZ' evaluated Son Heung-min as 'the most ideal asset for Bayern's attack.'

In the past, Bayern had also kept a close eye on Son Heung-min. They attempted to sign him in 2021, but the negotiations fell through. The negotiations were halted when Son Heung-min signed a 4+1 year contract with Tottenham. 'TZ' reported at the time that 'Bayern would need €85 million (about 1.362 trillion won) to acquire Son Heung-min.' There are analyses suggesting that the high transfer fee also served as a stumbling block.

Harry Kane has been mentioned as a link between Son Heung-min and Bayern. Kane, who transferred to Bayern just before last season, said in an interview shortly after his transfer, 'Son Heung-min was a great partner. I want to play together, even in a charity match.' The two players set a record for the most combined goals (47 goals) in the Premier League while playing at Tottenham, establishing a legendary attacking duo.

However, Bayern has stated that they no longer have the capacity or willingness to acquire Son Heung-min. Journalist Falk noted, 'The transfer rumor is not true. Bayern does not plan to bear Son Heung-min's high salary.'

Son Heung-min's future remains uncertain. With one year left on his contract, a transfer is unlikely without a change in Tottenham's stance. It's also a variable that a team capable of handling the transfer fee and salary must step forward for the transfer to materialize.

Ultimately, the possibility of moving to Bayern this summer has virtually disappeared. Whether Son Heung-min will remain at Tottenham next season or seek new challenges is expected to be decided after the end of this season.
