Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, exploded in anger towards some thoughtless Manchester United fans.

The British 'Daily Mail' reported on the 7th (Korean time) that "Guardiola criticized the Manchester United fans who chanted malicious slogans about Phil Foden's mother, saying they lacked dignity."

On the same day, Manchester City drew 0-0 with Manchester United in the 'Manchester Derby' held at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, for the 31st round of the Premier League (PL) 2024-2025 season.

Both teams exchanged a lackluster performance throughout the 90 minutes. They could only create one big chance each. Ultimately, the last Manchester Derby of the season came to a close without meeting expectations. The British 'BBC' also assessed that "Manchester City missed the opportunity to reclaim 4th place after a dull goalless draw. Both teams highlighted the need for changes this summer after the scoreless stalemate."

As a result, Manchester City remained in 5th place with 52 points (15 wins, 7 draws, 9 losses). They are just two points ahead of 6th place Newcastle United (50 points), who have two games in hand, so there is a significant chance of dropping further down the table. A red light has also been lit in the fight for qualification for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season.

During the match, a shocking incident occurred. Some Manchester United fans continued to hurl indecent sexual insults at Manchester City striker Foden, saying, "Phil Foden, your mother is XX." Particularly, this jeering reportedly grew louder when he was substituted for Jeremy Doku in the 13th minute of the second half.

Guardiola also heard this and could not contain his anger. At the press conference, he pointed out, "They lack dignity. This is not a Manchester United issue; it's a problem with people. We are too exposed. People who appear on the screens of world football, especially managers, club owners, and football players, have responsibility."

Furthermore, Guardiola remarked, "Honestly, I cannot understand the mindset of those who mentioned Foden's mother. That is an act lacking both honesty and dignity. They should be ashamed."

Meanwhile, Foden has been struggling this season. He had a stellar year last season, registering 27 goals and 12 assists in 53 official matches.

Foden also faced a string of accolades. He led Manchester City's PL four-peat and swept titles, including Manchester City Player of the Year, PL Player of the Year, Football Writers' Association (FWA) Player of the Year, and Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year, establishing himself as Manchester City's ace.

However, this season is different. Foden has managed only 10 goals and 5 assists in 40 official matches, and he has not been able to exert much influence beyond his attacking points. Manchester City is currently experiencing its most turmoil since Guardiola took charge.

Nevertheless, Guardiola has not lost faith in Foden. He noted, "When the team itself does not perform at our level, no one looks like themselves. I see the passion and smile on Foden's face every day during training. That is exactly what I want," adding, "Foden scored multiple goals against West Ham last season, contributing to our Premier League victory. His influence was remarkable, and he will return."
