Good news has arrived for the KIA Tigers, who are struggling. Kim Do-young, currently sidelined with a thigh injury, will begin technical training.
According to the club, Kim Do-hyung underwent a detailed MRI examination at the designated hospital Seonhan Hospital on the 3rd. The attending physician noted that the area of damage to the left hamstring had significantly improved.
Kim Do-young has been participating in catch practice and weight training at Champions Field since earlier this week. Following the diagnosis that he has greatly improved, he has transitioned directly into technical training starting today.
The club said, "We plan to conduct technical training for about a week. If there are no issues with his body, he will enter the Futures League. He is expected to return to the first team."
Kim Do-hyung sustained a left hamstring injury after hitting a ground ball past third base in the second at-bat of the opening game against the NC Dinos on March 23. He was injured while sprinting to second base, putting forth maximum effort to return to the base. He received a grade one assessment, which was a small blessing amid misfortune.
He was immediately removed from the roster and took about a week to focus on treatment. As the pain subsided, he began light exercise this week. If he successfully passes the technical training and the Futures League games, there is a possibility he could return around mid-month.
KIA is facing a tough time due to the unexpected absence of Kim Do-young due to injury. Park Chan-ho is also sidelined with a knee injury. Kim Sun-bin is struggling to activate their scoring equation after injuring his left calf.
It seems they will have to endure about 10 games without Kim Do-young. However, it is positive news that the return timeline for their star player is starting to take shape. Park Chan-ho is expected to return on the 5th.
