Mohamed Salah (33, Liverpool) is on the verge of a 10-year commitment with Liverpool.
The UK's 'Mirror' reported on the 3rd (Korea time) that "Salah appears to have taken official photos ahead of the announcement of his re-signing with Liverpool."
Salah is approaching the expiration of his contract with Liverpool this summer. However, until recently, there had been no news regarding the re-signing. Local reports indicated that negotiations were stalled, raising concerns among fans.
Salah has also mentioned his uncertain future. Following a match against Manchester United in September of last year, he stated, "No one has talked about the contract. This season could be the last," surprising Liverpool fans. In November, he noted, "I have not received an offer to stay," hinting at a possible transfer, and at the beginning of this year, he responded, "The re-signing is far off. There has been no progress."
In this situation, Salah was captured in uniform at Liverpool's Royal Albert Dock. Fans believe that the photo is an official shoot for the re-signing announcement.
'The Mirror' stated, "Photos showing Salah smiling at a location that appears to be by a boat were confirmed. It remains unclear when the photos were taken. Although Salah has hinted several times at this being his last season, fans are confident of a successful re-signing. Hopeful reactions are overflowing on social media accounts, with fans saying, "This single photo confirms the contract extension," "The atmosphere was similar during the last re-signing," and "It is certainly an announcement of the extension."
Reports from France also lend weight to the re-signing rumors. Santi Aouna, a journalist from 'Football Mercato,' explained, "Salah is at the final stage of extending his contract with Liverpool," adding that "the recent atmosphere has changed compared to before. Salah is likely to stay at Liverpool, and a two-year re-signing is imminent. If this happens, his partnership with Liverpool will reach 10 years."
Aouna also mentioned that "Salah is expected to soon receive a salary at the desired level," and conveyed specific details regarding the progress of negotiations.
Additionally, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is also likely to remain with the team. Van Dijk has already expressed his desire to stay, and negotiations are ongoing. On the other hand, Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with Spanish local media treating the transfer as a foregone conclusion.
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 after being called by manager Jürgen Klopp. He was recognized for his potential after scoring 34 goals and providing 20 assists over two seasons in Italy.
Since joining Liverpool, Salah has developed into a world-class striker. He has transformed into a complete player, equipped with explosive pace, excellent physicality, scoring instincts, and playmaking ability.
His Liverpool career record stands at 392 matches, 243 goals, and 110 assists. He has been the Premier League's top scorer three times, winning his first Golden Boot in the 2017-2018 season with 32 goals, and he shared the top scorer title the following season with 22 goals. In the 2021-2022 season, he and Son Heung-min topped the scoring list with 23 goals.
This season, Salah continues to shine with 44 matches, 32 goals, and 22 assists. In terms of league performance alone, he has achieved 30 matches, 27 goals, and 17 assists. If he adds just four more offensive points, he will surpass the all-time single-season record for most offensive points (47) set by Andy Cole (1993-1994 season) and Alan Shearer (1994-1995 season).
If the 10-year commitment between Liverpool and Salah materializes, it is expected to be a final symbol of the Klopp era.
