The professional baseball team Lotte Giants has kicked off its season with its first consecutive wins.

Lotte won 6-2 against the Hanwha Eagles in an away game at Hanwha Life Park in Daejeon on July 2. With the first consecutive wins of the season, their record improved to 3 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie.

Starting pitcher Kim Jin-wook earned his first win of the season with a performance of 5⅓ innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts while giving up 2 runs (1 earned run). He featured a fastball averaging 143 km/h and maxing out at 146 km/h, mixing in sharp sliders (40 pitches), curves (10 pitches), and change-ups (4 pitches), effectively shutting down the Hanwha lineup.

In the batting lineup, Yoon Dong-hee hit a right-field solo homer in the second inning, and Jeong Hoon added a left-field solo homer in the eighth inning. Both players notched their first home runs of the season. Notably, Yoon Dong-hee decorated his play with a homer that sailed over the 8-meter-high Monster Wall against Hanwha's starting pitcher Moon Dong-joo, becoming the first player to clear the Monster Wall.

Na Seung-yeop and Lee Ho-jun also delivered solid performances with 2 hits each, while the bullpen, consisting of Park Jun-woo (1 inning), Jeong Cheol-won (⅔ inning), Jeong Hyun-soo (1 inning), and Kim Won-jung (1 inning), demonstrated stability with a scoreless effort. Second-year right-hander Park Jun-woo, who came in during the sixth inning, recorded his first hold by striking out No Si-hwan looking and allowed just 1 hit and 1 strikeout over 1 inning while keeping a scoreless appearance until the seventh inning.

After the game, Lotte's manager Kim Tae-hyung noted, "Kim Jin-wook did well as a starting pitcher, and the batting lineup displayed concentration from the beginning to lead the game with scores. I also want to commend the young bullpen pitchers for doing their part effectively," praising the players extensively.

Lotte has announced right-handed pitcher Na Kyun-an as the starter for the July 3 game against Hanwha. Hanwha will counter with ace pitcher Cody Ponce.
