Professional bowler Kim Gyeong-beom (30, Little Ggoma Gimbap) has achieved an emotional debut victory.
Kim Gyeong-beom defeated teammate Oh Se-wan (Little Ggoma Gimbap) 223-205 in the final match of the '2025 Gimcheon Cup Professional Bowling Tournament' TV Finals held at Gimcheon Bowling Center in Gyeongsangbuk-do on the second.
This marks the first title for Kim Gyeong-beom, who debuted in the professional ranks in 2020, after his fourth appearance in the TV Finals.
With a double in the first and second frames taking an early lead, Kim Gyeong-beom allowed a comeback after consecutive covers in the third and fourth frames. However, Kim Gyeong-beom decorated the fifth to seventh frames with a turkey, successfully regaining the lead. Although there were no strikes afterward, Kim Gyeong-beom maintained the lead and solidified his victory.
Oh Se-wan took control early with a turkey. However, as he failed to accumulate strikes afterward, he struggled throughout the match. In the final 10th frame, he even faced a 6-7 split on his first roll and could not overcome the 18-pin deficit, settling for second place.
After the match, Kim Gyeong-beom expressed his joy, saying, "I'm really happy to win after four challenges in the TV Finals. Until now, I always felt like something was not going right, so this time I focused on bowling without mistakes."
He added, "The lane changes were difficult, but I kept adjusting to find the strike line, and with a bit of luck on my side, I was able to win. I'm happy to have won, but since there are many more tournaments ahead, I will always do my best to continuously achieve good results."
In the earlier semifinals, Kim Gyeong-beom narrowly defeated rookie Kang Chae-ha (MK Sports) 210-206 with a turkey in the final 9th and 10th frames. Oh Se-wan outperformed Lee Sang-min (Samho Tech) 244-213 in another semifinal with six baggers from the first to sixth frames.
In the team competition, Roadfield (Cheon Jae-woo, Lee Hyung-jae, Jo Seung-hyun) defeated DSD (Kang Hee-won, Kim Hyung-jun, Park Geun-woo) 210-206 to claim victory.
Meanwhile, the Korea Professional Bowling Association (KBP) that hosted this tournament delivered a donation to Gyeongsangbuk-do to support areas affected by forest fires, with the cooperation of its executives and professional players participating in the tournament.
