Gyeongnam secured the overall victory at the 39th National City and Province Rivalry Wrestling Championship. This achievement marks Gyeongnam's fifth consecutive title at the event.
From the 39th National City and Province Wrestling Championship, held from the 24th to the 30th at the Tongyeong Chungmu Gymnasium in Gyeongnam, Gyeongnam obtained 6,183.95 points, beating Daegu (2,274.01 points) to clinch the overall championship. Notably, the team's performance in the elementary and middle school divisions was outstanding.
In the elementary group team competition, Gyeongbok Elementary School won the championship, while Bukseong Elementary School and Sinheo Elementary School secured the runner-up and third place, respectively. In the individual events, Won Ji-hoon (Gyeryong Elementary), Kim Min-seo (Gyeongbok Elementary), Hong Seon-woo (Sinbang Elementary), Kang Dong-yoon (Gyeongbok Elementary), and Heo Gil-nyung (Bukseong Elementary) won five gold medals in the lightweight (under 40kg), middleweight (under 45kg), Administrator (under 50kg), heavyweight (under 55kg), and champion (under 120kg) categories, along with one silver medal and six bronze medals.
In the middle school team competition, Masan Middle School took the runner-up position, while in the individual events, Jeong Seong-jae (Sinheo Middle), Jeong Yoon (Masan Middle), and Yang Chang-hoon (Sinheo Middle) triumphed in the lightweight (under 60kg), Administrator (under 70kg), and heavyweight (under 75kg) categories, respectively, collecting 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 4 bronzes.
In the high school division, Masan Yongma High School claimed the runner-up position in the team competition. In the individual events, Cho Seon-ho and Lee Sang-don from Chungmu High School achieved gold medals in the historical (under 100kg) and champion (under 135kg) categories, respectively, winning a total of 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze.
Additionally, in the women's division, Geoje City Hall won 1 gold, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze, while in the university division, they secured 1 gold and 1 bronze. This resulted in Gyeongnam harvesting a total of 37 medals, including 1 team championship and 3 runner-up finishes, along with 12 individual gold medals.
On the same day, in the middle school individual competition, Jeong Seong-jae (lightweight under 60kg) from Sinheo Middle and Eom Dong-kyu (heavyweight under 80kg) from Bonghwa Middle lifted the championship trophies, achieving dual titles (Chairman's Cup, city and province rivalry).
