Jurgen Klopp (57) is reported to be a candidate for the next head coach of Real Madrid.
The British media outlet 'TBR Football' noted on the 29th (Korean time) that 'Klopp, who has left Liverpool, is receiving interest from three clubs' and that 'the possibility of a return to the field is also open.'
The outlet added, 'The Real Madrid hierarchy is in discussions about appointing Klopp as head coach,' and 'while Klopp is not in a rush to return, Real Madrid is paying attention to him as a figure who can lead world-class stars and promising players.'
Real has been searching for a successor to Carlo Ancelotti for a long time.
Ancelotti is contracted with Real Madrid until June 2026, but the situation has changed rapidly as he has been mentioned as a candidate to lead the Brazil national team.
'The Athletic' reported on the 27th that 'the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is considering Ancelotti as the next head coach ahead of the 2026 North and Central American World Cup.'
'TBR Football' also noted the competitive landscape for the next coach of the Brazil national team. The outlet reported, 'Ancelotti is a strong candidate for Brazil, but Klopp is also included in the list of potential candidates.' However, it explained that Ancelotti is prioritized higher.
Real Madrid is considering Klopp and Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso as alternatives should Ancelotti depart for the national team.
Interest in Klopp is not limited to Brazil. There is also a possibility with the U.S. national team. 'TBR Football' suggested that 'if the U.S. parts ways with Mauricio Pochettino, they might approach Klopp,' adding that 'Pochettino could return to his former team Tottenham.'
Klopp is the leader who created Liverpool's golden era. He led Liverpool for 9 seasons from 2015 to 2024, winning major tournaments such as the English Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield, and UEFA Champions League. After the 2024 season, he stepped down from the coaching position and is currently active as an administrator for the Red Bull group.
Recent reports also suggest that Trent Alexander-Arnold (25), who rejected a re-signing with Liverpool, could head to Real Madrid as a free agent. If Klopp also takes the reins at Real, the backlash from Liverpool fans could intensify.
