Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders manager Marcello Abondanza expressed his eagerness for victory in the first match.
Manager Abondanza said during a pre-interview for the first match of the 'Dodram 2024-2025 V-League' championship finals, held at Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium on the 31st, "As I mentioned from the beginning, it didn't matter who came up. The important thing is to show good volleyball. We waited a long time. After confirming our first place, it felt less important than the previous match, so I think it will be harder today."
Heungkuk Life recorded an overwhelming league championship with a regular season record of 27 wins and 9 losses, earning 81 points. They are now challenging for the championship title. Their opponent is third place Jeonggwanjang (23 wins, 13 losses, 64 points), who advanced after defeating second place Hyundai E&C (21 wins, 15 losses, 66 points) in the playoffs.
Manager Abondanza noted, "In fact, Jeonggwanjang's continuous strength has been their attacking blocking. They showed powerful performances in that area during the playoffs and made it to the finals. I hope we can demonstrate the blocking we showed well during the season. I hope their strengths do not come alive."
Kim Yeon-koung has been resting due to poor knee condition toward the end of the season. At the postseason media day, Kim said, "I have lost weight compared to the beginning of the season, but recently I am getting better little by little. I am raising my condition to prepare for the finals. I don't think there will be major problems during the finals. After confirming our first place in the regular league, I have been continuously training in preparation for the finals. I believe I will be able to show a good performance in the finals," demonstrating strong determination.
Manager Abondanza stated, "Kim Yeon-koung's knee condition has improved significantly. I think it's a problem that can naturally occur in a 38-year-old player," expressing hopes for Kim's performance.
Heungkuk Life has been training without any match since the game against GS Caltex on the 20th. Manager Abondanza said with a smile, "I waited and got tired. I want to play the game quickly."
