Director General Han Man-jeong leads the 15-and-under South Korean softball team, which secured a 15-8 victory over India, the final opponent in the ranking match, at the 2025 2nd U15 Softball Asia Cup held in Nantou, Taiwan. The team finished the tournament in 5th place.
South Korea's starting pitcher Lee Chae-won (Shinjeong Middle School) allowed consecutive hits to the 1st to 3rd batters from the very first inning and gave up a walk to the following batter, resulting in 4 runs allowed in the first inning, seemingly giving the momentum to India. However, the team managed to equalize with 2 runs each in the 1st and 2nd innings, making it 4-4.
In the top of the 3rd inning, South Korea allowed a reversal, giving up 3 runs due to a walk, a wild pitch, and an infield defensive error by Lee Chae-ha (Shinjeong Middle School) who came in relief with one out and runners on 1st and 2nd. However, later in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Lee Chae-ha's infield hit led to a triple by Han Chae-yul (Chungbuk National University Affiliated Middle School) and an outfield single by Lee Jun-hee (Chungbuk National University Affiliated Middle School), tightening the score to 7-6, just a 1-run difference.
Both teams completed the 4th inning without any runs scored, and India seemed to extend their lead by scoring 1 run in the top of the 5th inning, bringing the score to 8-6. However, South Korea started a rally in the bottom of the 5th with a hit by Kim Yu-min (Gooam Middle School), followed by consecutive hits and walks, scoring 8 runs before Kim Na-won (Gooam Middle School) hit a walk-off double, resulting in a 15-8 victory with a 5th-inning run ahead (cold game).
Meanwhile, in the match prior to the 5th and 6th place determination, Singapore claimed the bronze medal with a 10-3 victory over Hong Kong in a 5th-inning run ahead (cold game). In the final match between Japan and Taiwan, which secured qualification for the 2025 2nd U15 Softball World Cup to be held in Italy this June, Japan triumphed over Taiwan, the champion of the 2023 1st U15 Asia Cup, with a 7-0 victory.
The team, finishing the tournament in 5th place, will return home on the OZ712 flight on the 31st.
