The professional baseball team NC Dinos expressed condolences to the victim woman who died in the structural collapse accident that occurred at Changwon NC Park.
NC announced on the official social media on the 31st, "One individual injured in the accident that took place at Changwon NC Park on March 29 has passed away. We express our deep condolences and mourn the passing of the deceased. We extend our heartfelt apologies and words of comfort to the bereaved family."
On the 29th, during the game between NC and LG held at Changwon NC Park, around 5:20 p.m., a structural element (2.6m in length, 40cm in width aluminum "louver") fixed to the wall near the concession stand on the third base side fell, injuring three spectators below. Among the three injured individuals, two were sisters in their 20s who had come to watch the baseball game together.
The woman who was hit in the head was transferred to the hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. Afterward, while waiting to recover in the intensive care unit, she ultimately passed away. Her sister also sustained a broken collarbone and received treatment at the hospital. Another individual was injured in the leg and suffered significant psychological shock, leading to their transfer to the hospital.
Immediately following the accident, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postponed the game scheduled to be held on the 30th between NC and LG for safety inspections of the facilities. Furthermore, it was decided that the upcoming games between NC and SSG from April 1 to 3 at NC Park would be held without spectators.
"In the future, we will make every effort to ensure that the league operates with the safety of spectators as the top priority," the KBO stated. On the 30th, officials from the KBO Game Operations Committee and team representatives conducted safety inspections of various structures and facilities both inside and outside the four stadiums (Gocheok Sky Dome, Jamsil Stadium, Hanwha Life Baseball Park, Sajik Stadium) where games were held, excluding NC Park. Additionally, in wishing for the swift recovery of the injured spectators from the NC Park accident, minimal cheering was conducted during the game on the 30th.
