Foreign pitcher Rosenberg of the professional baseball team Kiwoom Heroes has rebounded from a poor opening game to savor the joy of his first victory.
Rosenberg started on the 28th in a home game against the SSG Landers at Gocheok Sky Dome, pitching well with 7 innings, 4 hits (1 home run), 1 walk, 9 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs.
This was a stark contrast to his debut on the 22nd in the regular season opener against the Samsung Lions, where he struggled with 3 innings, 8 hits (1 home run), 4 walks, 4 strikeouts, and 8 earned runs.
Manager Hong Won-ki noted about Rosenberg's struggles, "He seems to have been very nervous. In the early part of the game, what he thought were strikes were called balls, causing him to think too much. He couldn't even remember what pitches he was throwing. It's important to think simply on the mound."
On that day, Rosenberg not only made up for his poor opening game with outstanding pitching at home but also properly showcased the prowess of a future foreign ace.
Thanks to the performance of starting pitcher Rosenberg, Kiwoom defeated SSG 9-3, blowing a whistle for their third consecutive victory. Kiwoom's lineup consisted of left fielder Puig, center fielder Lee Ju-hyung, right fielder Cardenas, second baseman Song Sung-mun, first baseman Choi Joo-hwan, designated hitter Jeon Tae-hyun, catcher Kim Dong-hun, shortstop Kim Tae-jin, and third baseman Oh Joon-seo.
SSG, starting with Anderson as their pitcher, deployed a lineup featuring center fielder Choi Ji-hoon, shortstop Park Sung-han, left fielder Eredia, designated hitter Han Yu-seom, first baseman Ko Myung-jun, catcher Lee Ji-young, second baseman Ahn Sang-hyun, right fielder Ha Jae-hoon, and third baseman Park Ji-hwan.
Kiwoom scored first with a solo homer by Puig in the 1st inning. In the 2nd inning, taking advantage of a bases-loaded opportunity, they extended their lead to 3-0 with a sacrifice fly by Oh Joon-seo and a wild pitch by the opponent. SSG, trying to catch up, scored 1 run in the 4th inning with a solo home run by lead-off hitter Park Sung-han.
Kiwoom added 2 runs in the 5th inning thanks to a fielding error by the opponent and a timely hit by Cardenas. SSG closed the gap with a timely hit by Eredia in the 6th inning. Kiwoom completed a big inning in the bottom of the 6th, adding 4 runs with timely hits by Puig, Song Sung-mun, and Choi Joo-hwan.
SSG added 1 more run with a timely hit by Oh Tae-gon in the 8th inning, but could not close the scoring gap any further. SSG's starting pitcher Anderson was overwhelmed with 5 innings, 6 hits (1 home run), 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 5 earned runs (3 earned).
