Yasin Chueco, who is well-known as Lionel Messi's (38, Inter Miami) personal bodyguard, has issued a challenge to Logan Paul (30), a 28 million subscriber YouTuber.
The British outlet 'GiveMeSport' reported on the 28th (Korea time) that Messi's bodyguard and Paul are discussing a boxing match, noting that Paul has finally responded to Chueco's challenge.
According to the article, the two met through the beverage industry. Messi launched a sports energy drink branded 'MAS+' that he invested in and owns last year, and Paul filed a lawsuit against the British YouTuber KSI over their 'PRIME' drink.
In the process, Chueco, who is responsible for Messi's personal security, posted a video directly challenging Paul to a boxing match on social media. Chueco is reportedly a former U.S. Navy SEAL with experience serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is not unfamiliar to soccer fans as a muscular bodyguard protecting Messi on social media.
Paul has less boxing experience compared to his brother Jake Paul. Jake Paul has won a demonstration match against 'Iron Fist' Mike Tyson. However, Logan Paul also has official match experience from two bouts and an 8-round exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather.
Until now, Paul has not shown much interest in Chueco's provocation. However, when Chueco challenged again on the 26th, saying, "I'm receiving a lot of comments about this match on social media," and added, "People on the street are stopping me and asking. There is nowhere to run now. Let's fight for the fans. Let's make this match happen," Paul responded.
Paul said, "Tell him to line up," adding that "Chueco is just a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and he thinks he can box. He seems to think he deserves attention just because he is Messi's bodyguard," while scoffing.
"I’ve extended an invitation to an opponent before. But honestly, he doesn’t even deserve an invitation," he continued. "I’m in Puerto Rico right now, so if you really want to fight, come find me."
He also emphasized, "If I kick your ass. No, not 'if,' but 'I will definitely' kick your ass. Then you have to drink PRIME. You have to drink PRIME, buddy."
In particular, Paul remarked, "Honestly, I started to feel bad for Messi. He will lose in this lawsuit too and probably lose his bodyguard as well. Think about it. If your bodyguard is getting beat up by a YouTuber, why would you hire such a bodyguard?"
However, he added, "Messi is losing everything. Except the World Cup title, of course. I admit that," acknowledging that Messi became a true 'god of soccer' by leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
