Tottenham has finally decided to dismiss manager Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham lost 0-2 to Fulham in the 29th round of the 2024-25 Premier League held on the 16th at Craven Cottage in London, England. With 34 points, Tottenham has fallen to 14th place in the league.
Postecoglou only had Son Heung-min play in the second half as a way to manage him before the international match break. In fact, the performance in the second half was even worse. Tottenham conceded their first goal to Rodrigo Muniz in the 78th minute. They collapsed, conceding a second goal to Ryan Sessegnon in the 88th minute.
The Tottenham club has also faced limitations internally. Ultimately, it has decided to dismiss manager Postecoglou and has begun the process of selecting a successor.
"The Athletic" reported that, as Tottenham stagnates in 14th place, they are looking to dismiss manager Postecoglou and appoint a new manager. Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth is the top candidate. Tottenham believes that Postecoglou's experience in the Premier League is insufficient. A manager with a proven record in the Premier League is a crucial factor.
Iraola has managed Bournemouth since last season after previously coaching in Spain at Lazio. This season, Bournemouth is sitting in 10th place in the league. Iraola still has time left on his contract. If Tottenham were to acquire him, a buyout fee would apply.
"The Athletic" added that "Iraola may not want to leave Bournemouth. Tottenham is also considering Marco Silva of Fulham and Thomas Frank of Brentford as candidates."
