Real Madrid appears fatigued in negotiations with ace Vinicius Junior (25). Patience is gradually running thin.
According to the British outlet 'Football Transfers,' on the 28th (Korean time), transfer expert Duncan Castles noted on 'The Transfers Podcast' that Real might consider accepting an offer from the Saudi Pro League this summer due to the bravado revealed during contract negotiations with Vinicius.
Saudi Arabia, which has reached the contract expiration point with Cristiano Ronaldo (40, Al Nassr), is sincere about making Vinicius the new face of the league. They have been striving for years to acquire Vinicius.
Saudi Arabia has proposed a record transfer fee of over 200 million euros (approximately 316.6 billion won) and wants to bring Vinicius aboard. They are enticing him with an astronomical offer amounting to a total of 1 billion euros (approximately 1.583 trillion won) over five years.
Such proposals from Saudi Arabia have pushed negotiations between Real and Vinicius into a stalemate. Although Vinicius has a contract until the summer of 2027, he is rejecting Real's offer while demanding a higher salary than Kylian Mbappe (27).
Castles stated, "Real is tired of Vinicius saying, 'I received an incredible offer from Saudi Arabia. So you must make me the highest-paid player at the club.'"
He continued, "Real essentially told him, 'If you received such a good offer, it would be wise to accept it. We have no intention of giving you a salary higher than Mbappe.'"
Castles emphasized, "From what I've heard, Vinicius is becoming a difficult player to manage. He is causing problems outside the locker room and is consistently prioritizing his own interests over the team."
It appears that Real's concerns in negotiations with Vinicius are not merely financial issues but also relate to team balance and principles. In the case of Mbappe, he was guaranteed a contract bonus of 60 million euros (approximately 95 billion won) and unprecedented 100% revenue rights when signing with Real.
According to Castles, Real President Florentino Perez's recruitment policy maintains the principle that 'only players who consider Real the ultimate destination are wanted.' This strategy applies not only to Mbappe but also to negotiations with Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool).
Castles explained, "Real has gotten several players to accept salary cuts. President Perez believes they currently occupy a nearly unrivaled position in the transfer market."
He added, "Therefore, they are sticking to a strategy of identifying specific players and saying, 'We want you. Wait until your contract ends. When that happens, we will recruit you. However, we have no intention of paying ridiculous transfer fees to your current club.'"
Additionally, he emphasized, "Perez's strategic position is that 'this method has proven effective for us. We will continue to maintain this strategy. We invite only the best talents.'"
Ultimately, the message that Real is sending to Vinicius is, 'We are tired of your annoying bravado. If the Saudi offer is good, leave.' It remains to be seen whether President Perez's strategy will work this time, or if it will lead to a shocking development where Vinicius leaves for Saudi Arabia.
