What is the truth?

The British 'The Sun' reported that "The Buenos Aires court in Argentina issued a detention order against Julio Cesar Coria, the former bodyguard of Maradona, on charges of perjury," adding that "Maradona is currently on trial for unintentional manslaughter following a recent medical incident."

Football legend Maradona died in November 2020 from acute heart failure and pulmonary edema while recovering at home after brain surgery. Immediately after his death, it was considered a natural death due to Maradona's poor health, but his family continuously claimed that he died due to medical negligence.

Five years later, the trial regarding this incident is underway. A panel of medical experts reviewing his condition stated that "Maradona complained of severe pain for at least 12 hours, but appropriate emergency measures were not taken."

Based on this ruling, the prosecution argued that "Despite clear indications of distress, the medical staff neglected him." This was not just simple medical negligence, but rather an accusation that Maradona was intentionally neglected during a time when his health was compromised.

The prosecution's claims are increasingly gaining traction. Cesar, Maradona's bodyguard, was found guilty of perjury ahead of the trial of his primary physician, Leopoldo Luque. The Sun explained, "Cesar was with Maradona for five years and witnessed his passing. Although he claimed in court that he had no close relationship with Maradona and the physician Luque, it was revealed that he was indeed close to both."

"However, it was found that Cesar not only stayed with Maradona until the end but also had a friendly relationship with Luque. Even WhatsApp messages discussing various matters about Maradona between Luque and Cesar were made public," adding that "Once perjury was confirmed, he was immediately arrested in court."

The Sun reported that "Luque, Maradona's primary physician, continues to assert that he did not intentionally neglect his death, claiming that Maradona's health was already at its worst." Meanwhile, Maradona's children revealed that they attempted to have their father hospitalized, but Luque opposed it, shedding light on the progress of the trial.
