Jed Spence (25, Tottenham) directly refuted the baseless negative evaluations of Son Heung-min's (33) leadership that have been pouring in recently.

Spence appeared on the YouTube channel operated by Manchester United (Man U) legend Rio Ferdinand on the 25th (Korea time), revealing what kind of leader Son Heung-min is at Tottenham, attracting attention.

Fullback Spence, who joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022, has emerged as the team's ace this season. After seizing opportunities under coach Ange Postecoglou, Spence has demonstrated his presence as a top player both in defense and offense.

Spence defined Son Heung-min's leadership as exemplary, stating, "It depends on what type of claim is desired. As mentioned, Son Heung-min is not the typical style of a captain who shouts or reprimands opponents. I believe he is the type who shows through actions."

He continued, "He comes out early every day, does his work, and sets an example on the field. He trains hard every day and gives his best on match days. Eventually, the numbers speak for themselves. In that regard, I believe he sets a good example."

Son Heung-min has recorded 11 goals and 11 assists in 40 matches, including 7 goals and 9 assists in 26 league matches this season. He has consistently proven why he is a world-class player over the past 10 years.

However, Son Heung-min has faced harsh criticism regarding his age and performance this season. Some experts have gone so far as to claim that Son is showing leadership unworthy of a "captain."

Soccer commentator Iaan Dark recently pointed out, "As Tottenham struggles, some Tottenham fans are demanding to terminate Son Heung-min's contract. Clearly, Son Heung-min and James Maddison are far from their previous reputation."

He also emphasized, "The reason coach Postecoglou has excluded Son Heung-min and Maddison from the starting lineup is that they are having a terrible season. That is the harsh truth. Son Heung-min has not performed as well as before. He cannot complain about being excluded from the starting lineup."

Additionally, Jamie O'Hara, Jamie Redknapp, and Harry Redknapp have argued that Son Heung-min's declining skills warrant his release or removal from the captaincy. Martin Allen, who has managed Brentford, even suggested that Son Heung-min should transfer to a promoted team in the Championship (second division).

Spence has directly refuted these claims. The British 'TBR Football' emphasized that Spence knows well what kind of player and leader Son Heung-min is at Tottenham, highlighting his argument.

Moreover, the outlet evaluated, "Despite being the second highest scorer in Tottenham's history, Son Heung-min's effort to push himself to the limit in daily training will be a significant motivation for Spence and the entire Tottenham squad."

Additionally, it added that Son Heung-min promised to take on more responsibility during the difficult early period of the season and has demonstrated his commitment in training.
