The Korea Alpine Federation said, "From the 28th to the 30th, the '45th National Sports Climbing Championships' will be held at the Gunsan Climbing Center in South Jeolla Province for three days."

This event is a competition to select the national team for sports climbing in South Korea for 2025, and approximately 200 top domestic sports climbers aged 17 and over will participate in fierce competitions for the Taegeuk mark.

The event is hosted by the Korea Alpine Federation and organized by the Jeonbuk Alpine Federation, with Shinhan Financial Group, The North Face, and Climb Korea as official sponsors, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Korea Sports Council, Gunsan City, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation participating as sponsors, while Butora and Coca-Cola Beverages provide support.

On the first day of the competition, the 28th, men's and women's speed preliminaries and finals will be held, followed by men's bouldering preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals, along with women's lead preliminaries and finals on the 29th. On the last day, the 30th, men's lead preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals will take place, as will women's bouldering preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals.

Star athletes representing sports climbing will gather for the national team selection competition, challenging for the Taegeuk mark. The national team athletes selected through the competition will qualify for the '2025 IFSC Seoul Sports Climbing World Championships' to be held in September in Seoul. In particular, the '2025 IFSC Seoul World Championships' is expected to be an important international sports climbing event held domestically, featuring world-class athletes.
