The Korea Racing Authority (Chairperson Jeong Gi-hwan) announced on the 25th that it obtained an A grade in the '2024 Evaluation of the Soundness of Gambling Industry Operators.'

The 'Evaluation of Soundness' is a system that assesses efforts to enhance the soundness of the gambling industry and resolve its side effects, targeting 9 operators in 7 sectors, including horse racing, cycling, boat racing, casinos, and lotteries. Based on the evaluation results, incentives such as an increase in total sales and a reduction in the burden of addiction prevention fees will be granted to excellent institutions.

The Korea Racing Authority achieved perfect scores in 9 quantitative indicators, including compliance rates for total sales, implementation results of expanded electronic card use, counseling results for problem gamblers, and monitoring results related to illegal gambling. Additionally, in non-quantitative indicators such as specialized education for preventing staff gambling addiction, appropriateness of illegal monitoring plans, and cooperation with relevant institutions for illegal monitoring, it received an A+ grade, obtaining a comprehensive A grade for the second consecutive year.

A representative from the Korea Racing Authority noted, "As an excellent institution for soundness, we will continue to lead efforts to enhance the soundness of horse racing and protect users," and added, "Especially this year, we will conduct various public campaigns on topics such as prevention of problematic gambling and youth gambling issues to establish a proactive prevention system."

The Korea Racing Authority has actively participated in campaigns to prevent illegal gambling jointly with the Gambling Supervision Commission since February and conducted a youth gambling prevention campaign in collaboration with the Gwacheon Police Station in March.

In April, it plans to implement a joint sound use campaign with relevant organizations at Let's Run Park Seoul, located in Gwacheon, to coincide with the cherry blossom festival season.
