The Korea-Thailand women's volleyball All-Star Super Match is being revived after six years.

The Korea Volleyball Association (President Cho Won-tae) held its 21st term 5th board meeting and extraordinary general meeting in Sangam-dong, Mapo District, on the 21st. The agenda discussed included the hosting of the Korea-Thailand women's volleyball All-Star Super Match and the participation of non-main players in the business competition, and the main results are as follows.

Korea-Thailand women's volleyball All-Star Super Match

As part of an international exchange project to enhance the international competitiveness of professional volleyball, it has been decided to hold the 2025 Korea-Thailand women's volleyball All-Star Super Match over two days on the 19th and 20th of next month at the Hwaseong Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province. The Korea-Thailand women's volleyball All-Star Super Match was held from 2017 until 2019, alternating between the two countries, starting in Thailand. It was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020, but this business agreement marks a comeback after six years. The Super Match is set to have Team KOVO face off against the Thailand All-Stars in two matches.

Participation of non-main players in business competition

To provide competition opportunities for non-main players and improve performance, 14 men’s and women’s clubs will participate in the 2025 Business Federation Danyang Competition, scheduled for July 7-15. The player roster will consist of up to 12 members, with conditions that include having less than five years of experience, participating in fewer than 50% of the previous season's V-League matches (18 matches) or fewer than 100 sets, and being excluded from the national team call-up list. The association will support accommodation and other related matters.

Establishment of KOVO youth elite team

Recently, Korean volleyball has been facing many difficulties such as a decline in the competitiveness of the national team, a decrease in youth elite teams, and a lack of influx of outstanding rookie players. In response, the association decided to operate a KOVO youth elite team starting in 2026 to nurture youth in the long term and discover talented rookie players amidst a shaking foundation of V-League player supply. The team will initially target elementary school students in 3rd and 4th grades (U-12) in Seoul, with one team for each gender.

The KOVO youth elite team will be operated as a club team in 2026 after a preparation period in 2025. It will expand club team operations by age categories (U-15, U-18) linked with U-12 players, and further review the nationwide operation of the U-12 club team so that many players can join elite teams in middle and high school. The association plans to continuously work on discovering outstanding players through this youth elite project.
