I intuitively felt that both home runs were going out the moment I hit them.

Foreign player Lewin Diaz of the Samsung Lions displayed a show of force by hitting his first multi-home run of the season. On the 23rd, Diaz started as the fifth first baseman in the home game against the Kiwoom Heroes at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

In the season opener on the 22nd, Diaz swung a hot bat, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored, and on this day, he fully displayed his power instincts.

Leading 4-2 in the 3rd inning, he stepped up to the plate as the leadoff batter and hit a debut home run off Kiwoom starter Ha Young-min. Taking advantage of a 1B-1S count, he launched a fastball (144 km/h) over the right-center field fence. The distance was 120 meters.

Kiwoom's Ruben Cardines hit a grand slam in the 8th inning, narrowing the gap to 7-9. Then, Diaz delivered a decisive hit. In the bottom of the 8th, leadoff batter Kang Min-ho reached base with a double to right-center. The Samsung bench substituted Kim Seong-yoon for Kang Min-ho as a pinch runner.

At the plate was Diaz. With a 1B-2S count, he lifted a forkball for a big hit that landed in the outfield stands. It was a massive hit that traveled 130 meters. Samsung secured an 11-7 victory over Kiwoom, riding on home runs from Diaz and Kim Young-woo (1 run in the 5th), Park Byeong-ho (2 runs in the 6th), sweeping the season-opening two-game series.

After the game, Diaz said, "I intuitively felt that both home runs were going out the moment I hit them. The first ball was hit high, so I watched it for a moment, and the second one felt like it was going out as soon as I made contact. I think there should be many games like this this season."

He added, "I knew that we needed runs when I stepped up to the plate, so I thought about how to maintain the consolidation of the momentum rather than just hitting home runs. I focused on not missing good pitches, and I hit it well in the center, so it went out."

He also did not forget to thank the fans who filled Daegu Samsung Lions Park for two consecutive days. Diaz said, "It’s really enjoyable to come to the ballpark and meet the fans. I am very grateful to the fans."

Meanwhile, Manager Park Jin-man praised the hitters, saying, "The hitters performed well, staying true to the team's identity as home run hitters. Thanks to the players preparing thoroughly, we were able to play well in the season-opening two-game series."

Making his 1st team debut, 'super rookie' Bae Chan-seung dominated three batters including Park Joo-hong, Yasiel Puig, and Lee Joo-hyung with just eight pitches in the 6th inning. His maximum speed was recorded at 155 km/h.

Manager Park Jin-man expressed satisfaction, saying, "Bae Chan-seung was brought in during the 6th inning considering the batting order. His pitching was good, but he also showed more composure on the mound than the existing players, which is reliable."
