Chungbuk Cheongju Football Club (hereinafter referred to as Chungbuk Cheongju FC) has added weight to its defense by signing veteran defender Yoon Seok-young, who has experience with the national team and the Premier League.
Born in 1990, Yoon Seok-young has been recognized as a capable resource, receiving calls from the national team since his youth. Since making his professional debut with Jeonnam Dragons in 2009, he has consistently participated in matches, demonstrating stable performance and has also been selected for the adult national team, proving his skills.
He later played for Queens Park Rangers (QPR), the former team of Park Ji-sung in the Premier League, in 2013. After experiences in the European stage and J League, he returned to Korea on loan to FC Seoul in 2018. Yoon Seok-young has played in a total of 246 matches in K League 1 over 11 seasons and is regarded as a veteran defender with extensive experience.
Yoon Seok-young has a sturdy physique measuring 182 cm and weighing 79 kg, and is expected to add great stability to Chungbuk Cheongju FC's defense with his pass-blocking ability based on quick judgment, man-marking skills, and the ability to cover open spaces quickly.
Manager Kwon Oh-kyu noted, “I felt that reinforcement in defense was necessary, so we decided to sign him. Yoon Seok-young has a high understanding of tactics, so he will quickly integrate into the team, and when his physical condition reaches its peak, we will enable him to contribute to the team.”
Yoon Seok-young expressed, “When I heard about the future of Chungbuk Cheongju FC, I believed there was a high potential for development, and I thought it could be a model team in the K League. I will do my best to assist the manager moving forward,” conveying his anticipation and determination for the new challenge.
Meanwhile, Chungbuk Cheongju FC's next match is scheduled against Gyeongnam FC on Saturday, March 29, at 4:30 p.m. at Changwon Football Center.
