Thomas Tuchel (51) led the England national football team to victory over Albania in his debut match as head coach, thanks to a decisive goal from Harry Kane (32, Munich), whom he coached at his 'previous job,' Bayern Munich.

England defeated Albania 2-0 on the 22nd (Korean time) at Wembley Stadium in London, England, in the first match of Group K for the 2026 FIFA World Cup North and Central America qualifiers.

Tuchel, who took over as head coach in January this year, announced a fresh start as national team manager with this victory in his first official match.

In the 20th minute of the first half, Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal) scored the opening goal. In the 32nd minute of the second half, Harry Kane (Munich) added another goal with a right-footed shot, sealing England's 2-0 victory.

The 18-year-old 'rising star' Lewis-Skelly made his debut for the England A team and simultaneously set the record for the youngest debut goal scorer in the team's history.

Born in 2006, Lewis-Skelly is a left-back who made his debut on the adult stage wearing the Arsenal jersey in the Premier League this season. He was first included in the A-match roster in March and made a strong impression in his debut.

32-year-old defender Dan Burn (Newcastle) also made his first appearance in an A-match, having a delayed national team debut.

Tuchel is a global leader who has coached at major European clubs including Mainz, Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. Now at the helm of the England national team, he faces the challenges of generational change and tactical adjustment.

BBC noted, "Ultimately, the decisive moment was created by captain Harry Kane. He skillfully received a cross from Declan Rice with a fantastic first touch, beating the defense and finishing the goal," adding, "With this goal, Kane recorded his 70th international goal and became the first England player to score in his debut match under three different coaches, following Hodgson and Southgate."

It further mentioned, "The synergy between Kane and Coach Tuchel was evident. Kane scored 44 goals in 45 matches with Tuchel at Bayern Munich, and that synergy continued in this national team match."
