The professional baseball LG Twins recorded their second consecutive victory at the start of the season. The Lotte Giants suffered their second consecutive defeat.

LG won 10-2 against Lotte in a home game held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 23rd during the 2025 KBO League. This follows a previous win of 12-2, marking a strong start with two wins. Moon Bo-kyung hit a two-run homer, Park Dong-won hit a solo shot, Austin hit a solo homer, Song Chan-eui hit a solo homer, and Moon Jeong-bin hit a two-run homer, scoring a total of 7 runs with 5 home runs.

Starting pitcher Son Ju-young allowed only 1 hit over 7 innings (96 pitches), issuing 2 walks and striking out 5 without giving up a run, perfectly shutting down the Lotte lineup. He displayed an impressive performance by retiring 13 consecutive batters from the 3rd out to the 7th inning.

Lotte's starting pitcher Park Se-woong became the losing pitcher, allowing 8 hits, 3 home runs, striking out 6, and giving up 4 runs over 5 innings.

Lotte positioned right-handed batters up front against LG's left-handed starter Son Ju-young. Yun Dong-hee (center fielder), Son Ho-young (third baseman), Jeon Jun-woo (left fielder), Reyes (right fielder), Na Seung-yeop (first baseman), Jeong Hoon (designated hitter), Yoo Kang-nam (catcher), Ko Seung-min (second baseman), and Jeon Min-jae (shortstop) constituted the starting lineup. The starting pitcher was Park Se-woong.

The leading batter Hwang Seong-bin and shortstop Park Seung-wook, who played the previous day, were omitted, reducing the number of left-handed batters to 2. Right-handed batters Jeong Hoon and Jeon Min-jae were included in the starting lineup. Lotte's manager Kim Tae-hyung said before the game regarding the lineup changes, "Park Seung-wook and Hwang Seong-bin were omitted. (When asked if they were excluded because of the left-handed starter) Seong-bin couldn't even chase after the ball yesterday, and Seung-min made an error, so I moved him back to ease it a bit."

LG's starting lineup included Hong Chang-ki (right fielder), Kim Hyun-soo (designated hitter), Austin (first baseman), Moon Bo-kyung (third baseman), Oh Ji-hwan (shortstop), Song Chan-eui (left fielder), Park Dong-won (catcher), Park Hae-min (center fielder), and Ko Bon-hyeok (second baseman). This lineup was the same as in the previous day’s opening game. Kim Hyun-soo played left field the previous day, and Song Chan-eui was the designated hitter, but their positions were switched. Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop explained the choice of Ko Bon-hyeok at second base, noting, "Shin Min-jae was not performing well against Park Se-woong."

LG scored the first run starting from the first inning with a big hit. In the bottom of the first, leadoff batter Hong Chang-ki reached base with a single to left. After that, Kim Hyun-soo struck out swinging, and Austin flew out to center for 2 outs.

During Moon Bo-kyung's at-bat, a wild pitch from the pitcher allowed the runner on first base to advance to second. Moon Bo-kyung faced Park Se-woong and, with a 3 balls-1 strike count, launched a two-run homer over the right field fence with the fifth pitch curve. The ball traveled in a very large parabola. Right fielder Reyes chased it to the fence but could not catch it. The exit velocity was 169.9 km/h, the launch angle was 37.5 degrees, and it was a 112.1m home run. Moon Bo-kyung also hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the opening game, marking back-to-back games with home runs.

LG scored additional points in the 2nd inning. This time, Park Dong-won hit a home run. After one out, Park Dong-won hit the first pitch fastball (150.6 km/h) from Park Se-woong, sending it over the left-center fence for a solo shot. The ball had an exit velocity of 169.9 km/h, a launch angle of 24.3 degrees, and was a massive home run with a distance of 131.1m.

LG hit another home run in the 5th inning. Hong Chang-ki and Kim Hyun-soo struck out in succession. However, Austin hit a solo homer over the left field fence after 2 outs, launching a slider (140.4 km/h) from Park Se-woong. The exit velocity was 177.7 km/h, the launch angle was 17.9 degrees, and it was a rocket-like line drive that went over the fence, with a distance of 129m.

The LG home runs continued. In the 6th inning, after one out, Song Chan-eui faced relief pitcher Park Jin and hit a solo home run over the left field fence on the third slider (127.7 km/h) with a count of 1 ball-1 strike. This was a home run that came after 898 days, with his last home run being on October 7, 2022, against NC. He did not miss the slider that was a middle-of-the-plate mistake, achieving an exit velocity of 172km/h and a distance of 119.5m.

LG's starting pitcher Son Ju-young allowed the leadoff batter Yun Dong-hee to walk on a full count after 7 pitches in the first inning. However, he erased the runner by inducing Son Ho-young into a ground ball double play on the second pitch. After 2 outs, he struck out Jeon Jun-woo on a 124 km/h curve to end the inning. In the second inning, he again allowed the leadoff batter Reyes to walk but induced Na Seung-yeop into a ground ball to first base for a reverse double play, erasing the runner. After 2 outs, Jeong Hoon ended the inning with a fly out to right field.

In the third inning, after 2 outs, he allowed a double that dropped on the left line to Jeon Min-jae, the only hit he gave up. He overcame the crisis by retiring Yun Dong-hee on a foul fly to first base. First baseman Austin made an impressive play, successfully catching a difficult pop-up. After that, it was a parade of three-up, three-down for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings.

Lotte seized an opportunity against reliever Baek Seung-hyeon in the 8th inning after Son Ju-young was replaced. Leadoff batter Na Seung-yeop got a single to left, Jeong Hoon walked, and Jeong Bo-geun hit a single to right-center, creating a bases-loaded situation with no outs. LG replaced the pitcher with Kim Jin-seong.

Ko Seung-min struck out swinging on a 141 km/h high fastball with a count of 2 balls-2 strikes. With one out and the bases loaded, Jeon Min-jae hit a timely single that slipped between the third baseman, bringing in 1 run. With still one out and the bases loaded, Yun Dong-hee made an out with a fly ball to second base. Next, Son Ho-young hit a well-struck line drive, but third baseman Moon Bo-kyung made a diving catch for a crucial defensive play. Son Ho-young showed disappointment, shaking his head as the ball was caught.

LG extended their lead in the 8th inning. Leadoff batter Moon Bo-kyung drew a walk to reach base. He was replaced with a pinch runner Shin Min-jae on first base. Oh Ji-hwan flew out to center, and the runner on first successfully stole second during Song Chan-eui's at-bat. Song Chan-eui struck out to end his turn. With two outs and a runner on second, Park Dong-won hit a timely single that dropped in front of the left fielder, widening the score to 6-1. Then, Park Hae-min drew a walk, placing two runners on base. Ko Bon-hyeok's hit cleared the right fielder’s head, resulting in a 2-RBI triple that cleared the bases.

At Hong Chang-ki's at-bat, Moon Jeong-bin stepped in as a pinch hitter. Moon Jeong-bin hit a forkball from Gu Seung-min over the left field fence for a two-run homer, recording his first hit in his debut as a home run. The score became 10-1.

In the top of the 9th, Lotte faced the new pitcher Kim Kang-ryool with 2 outs and runners on first and second when Jeong Bo-geun recorded an RBI single to right field.
