Doosan Bears manager Lee Seung-yeop showed his determination to create a turnaround after the opening game defeat.

Lee Seung-yeop emphasized he would not dwell on the opening game defeat, stating during an interview before the match against the SSG Landers at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 23rd, "Over 144 games, you're likely to have about 60 to 70 losses. I consider this as one loss among them. I have no intention of putting any pressure on the players."

Doosan suffered a 5-6 comeback loss to SSG in the season opener on the 22nd. The painful moment was allowing a two-run home run to Oh Tae-gon in the eighth inning. Starting pitcher Cole Irvin recorded 5 innings with 7 hits allowed, 1 walk, 2 hit batters, 6 strikeouts, and 4 runs. On the offensive side, the multi-hits from Kim Min-seok, Kim Jae-hwan, Yang Eui-ji, and Park Jun-young provided some comfort.

Lee Seung-yeop noted, "In games, you can be leading and then lose or be trailing and then come back to win. I do not mind that part. Yesterday, we did not have many pitchers, so we had no choice but to go with quantity. (Lee) Young-hyun seemed to lack confidence in his off-speed pitches and relied on fastballs. It’s regrettable, but it’s his first appearance, and we have to look at the long year ahead, so I hope he forgets quickly. Although everyone will feel regret over yesterday's defeat, it's a long race, so we will compete again today for victory."

Regarding Irvin's first outing, Lee Seung-yeop said, "It was quite different from what we expected. It seemed he was a bit uncomfortable on the pitching plate. Since it was his first outing in Incheon, I think he might have been a little nervous about that. He needs to overcome that. However, he did manage to pitch 5 innings, so I think he performed better than the opposing starting pitcher (Drew Anderson). I believe he faced a lot of challenges early on. I hope he can perform well next time."

Doosan's starting lineup for the day consisted of Kim Min-seok (left fielder), Kim Jae-hwan (designated hitter), Yang Eui-ji (catcher), Jake Cave (right fielder), Kang Seung-ho (third baseman), Yang Seok-hwan (first baseman), Park Jun-young (shortstop), Lee Yoo-chan (second baseman), and Jeong Soo-bin (center fielder). The starting pitcher was Jack Logue.

O Myung-jin, who had the highest batting average in spring training (.407) and started as the second baseman in the opening game, went 0-for-4 on the day. Lee Yoo-chan will start as the second baseman today in place of O. Lee Seung-yeop explained, "The second baseman can vary depending on the pitcher. Today, Kim Kwang-hyun (left-handed pitcher) will pitch. Also, (Oh) Myung-jin seemed a bit too nervous. He will start from the bench today, but there will be opportunities next week as more right-handed pitchers will appear. Yesterday was his first game, so there was the burden of pressure, and since he struggled, we opted for a refreshing approach."

Regarding starting pitcher Logue, Lee Seung-yeop said, "I think he can throw around 95 pitches. Since it's his first outing, it’s tough to pitch that many. However, it would be good if Logue can pitch about 6 innings. There’s a big difference between closing the 7th to 9th innings and the 6th to 9th innings. There's significant pressure. If Logue can pitch 6 innings, it will give some level of predictability, but if he only pitches 5 innings, it's really hard to gauge."
