HL Anyang has reached the top of the 2024-2025 Asia League Ice Hockey regular season.
Under the leadership of head coach Baek Ji-sun, HL Anyang achieved a significant victory of 8-0 against Tohoku Free Blades in the 31st round of the 2024-2025 Asia League Ice Hockey regular season home game held on the 22nd, with strong performances from Jeon Jeong-woo (3 goals, 1 assist) and Kim Sang-wook (1 goal, 2 assists). This allowed HL Anyang to secure 17 wins (including 1 in overtime) and 13 losses (including 6 in overtime) for a total of 59 points, ensuring the regular season championship regardless of the outcome of the remaining game.
HL Anyang's victory in the Asia League Ice Hockey regular season marks their third consecutive championship and the eighth overall (2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2022-2023, 2023-2024, 2024-2025).
Recently struggling with four consecutive losses, HL Anyang launched an aggressive offensive against Tohoku from the start, culminating in a remarkable scoring spree with 8 goals to celebrate their regular season championship.
Lee Ju-hyung opened the scoring at 6 minutes and 24 seconds into the first period. Infiltrating directly towards the opponent's goal, Lee received a pass from Nam Hee-do, and Park Jin-kyu, stationed behind the opponent's net, easily shot after a centering pass, hitting the Tohoku goal net. HL Anyang finished the first period leading 2-0 after Kim Sang-wook redirected a point shot from Oh In-kyu with his stick at 8 minutes and 39 seconds for an additional goal.
In the second period, Jeon Jeong-woo's scoring prowess ignited. At 13 minutes and 13 seconds into the second period, he scored the team's third goal with an assist from Lee Yong-jun, and during a power play at 13 minutes and 41 seconds, Kim Sang-wook finished a powerful one-timer after receiving a pass from Jeon.
Jeon Jeong-woo completed his hat trick at 8 minutes and 40 seconds into the third period with assists from Han Ja and Chikara, extending the lead to 5-0 with an additional goal from Kang Min-wan at 3 minutes and 41 seconds. HL Anyang capped off the scoring fest with additional goals from Otsu Yusei and Lee Hyun-seung.
Finishing the regular season with a home game on the 23rd, HL Anyang will face the second-place Red Eagles Hokkaido in the 2024-2025 Asia League Ice Hockey finals (best of five). The first (March 29) and second games (March 30) will be held in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan, while the third (April 3), fourth (April 3), and fifth games (April 6) are scheduled at HL Anyang Ice Rink.
