MBC Sports Plus has announced significant changes ahead of the 2025 season 'KBO League' broadcast. The new commentary team and field reporter arrangement, along with cutting-edge broadcasting equipment and a graphic package overhaul, will be led by legendary outfielder Kim Kang-min, who joins as a commentator for 'BASS.'
MBC Sports Plus has strengthened its commentary team for the baseball highlight program 'BASS' starting in the 2025 season, bringing in Kim Kang-min, who is regarded as the best outfielder in the 'KBO League.' Since his professional debut in 2001, Kim Kang-min has played for 23 years, experiencing five Korean Series championships and cementing his place as the league's top player after winning the MVP award in the 2022 Korean Series.
Additionally, he is the third player in KBO League history to experience championships in his 20s, 30s, and 40s. After retirement, Kim Kang-min has been active as a Commissioner on the KBO Strategy Strengthening Committee while also pursuing studies in graduate school. He is expected to present in-depth commentary on 'BASS' this season.
This reform will bring in new MC Kim Hee-yeon for 'BASS,' signaling fresh changes. The program will enhance its core highlight segment and emphasize differentiated expertise and visual elements compared to competitors, providing more dynamic baseball content.
Meanwhile, MBC Sports Plus is also bringing groundbreaking changes to its broadcast this season. Starting in July, the network plans to introduce the country's first eight times faster 4K super slow-motion camera to capture key moments of the game with greater precision and analyze detailed moments of the game with high-resolution video and various angles. Particularly, precise replay analysis of crucial moments such as home runs, hitting, and defense will be possible using the eight times faster 4K super slow-motion camera.
The commentary team for MBC Sports Plus's KBO League in the 2025 season will operate with five members. In addition to existing commentators Lee Sang-hoon, Jung Min-cheol, Park Jae-hong, and Kim Sun-woo, Heo Do-hwan has joined as a new commentator. Heo Do-hwan, a former catcher, is expected to present a fresh perspective on commentary with his sharp analytical skills and witty remarks.
The field reporting team has also been newly organized. New female announcers Jo Min-ji and Lim Chae-won will convey the lively atmosphere of the games through interviews with players, coaching staff, and officials at each venue, while also reporting on various real-time issues in the stadium. Through this, the network plans to provide vibrant news from inside and outside the stadium more densely.
With the start of the baseball season, MBC Sports Plus will revamp its channel logo and completely redesign the KBO League broadcast graphic package. Applying a more sophisticated and intuitive design will enhance the visual elements of the game broadcast and enable more effective communication of game information. The aim is to provide audiences with familiar yet fresh graphic designs to offer a more immersive viewing experience.
MBC Sports Plus's coverage of the 2025 season 'KBO League' is expected to offer the best viewing experience for baseball fans with a strengthened commentary team, on-site news, and cutting-edge broadcasting technology.
