Jeno, a popular idol member of NCT known as a passionate fan of the professional baseball team Samsung Lions, has fulfilled his dream of throwing the first pitch.
Jeno was scheduled to throw the first pitch at the second playoff game against the LG Twins at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on Oct. 14 last year. However, he had to swallow his disappointment as the game was postponed due to rain.
At that time, he noted through social media, "I’m really sad that I couldn’t throw the first pitch today, but it was still a great memory. I practiced throwing and batting with player Lee Ho-sung, and it was fun. I will always support Lee Ho-sung, and I hope there will be another chance (to throw the first pitch) in the future."
According to the Samsung club, they requested Jeno to throw the first pitch at the regular season opening game, and Jeno happily accepted.
Before throwing the first pitch, Jeno, holding the microphone, said, "Hello, this is Jeno. Nice to meet you. Thank you so much for inviting me to throw the first pitch today. I will cheer for the victory in the 2025 season opening game. Go, Samsung Lions!"
Wearing a jersey with the number 23, Jeno received applause for his dynamic throw from the mound.
Lee Taek-geun, an SBS Sports commentator in charge of the game broadcast that day, praised, "I often use the term 'completeness' in my commentary, and Jeno’s physical completeness is at the athlete level. His upper body is quite developed. The first game and first pitch must have been quite burdensome, but he threw very well."
Meanwhile, Samsung lined up its opening game roster with outfielder Kim Ji-chan, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, left fielder Koo Ja-wook, catcher Kang Min-ho, first baseman Lewin Diaz, designated hitter Park Byung-ho, second baseman Jeon Byeong-woo, third baseman Kim Young-woong, and right fielder Kim Heon-gon. The starting pitcher is Ariel Hurado.
Kiwoom, starting foreign left-handed pitcher Kenny Rosenberg, constructed their starting lineup with second baseman Song Seong-mun, designated hitter Yasiel Puig, center fielder Lee Joo-hyung, right fielder Ruben Cardines, first baseman Choi Joo-hwan, shortstop Kim Tae-jin, third baseman Yeo Dong-wook, left fielder Park Joo-hong, and catcher Kim Jae-hyun.
